Huge congratulations to Adam on his Blue Belt! 🥋💙
6 years ago this lad walked through our doors as a young kid. 6 years later — Blue Belt. That says everything.
Sticking with anything for 6 years is hard. Doing it through your junior years, when life pulls you in every direction? That's a different level of dedication.
You've earned every bit of this Adam. So proud to watch you grow — not just as a martial artist but as a person. 🙌
Massive credit to Adams family too for keeping him motivated and pushing him forward. That support matters more than you know.
This is what we're here for. 💪

This is what Jiu Jitsu is all about. 🥋
Some people walk through our doors not knowing a single thing about the sport. No background, no experience — just curiosity and a little courage. They start as white belts, find their feet, and slowly but surely, they find their people.
Week in, week out, they test themselves on the mats. And somewhere along the way, they fall in love with it — so much so that they bring their families along for the ride.
That's exactly the journey Jordan & Matt Shepherd have been on. 👏
In just 18 months, these two have gone from beginners to blue belts — earned every single stripe along the way. But more than that, they've brought their families into the RGA Salford family, helped build our Juniors programme, and become an integral part of our coaching team.
They didn't just grow. They helped US grow.
Congratulations on your blue belts, lads. This is only the beginning. 💙

What an incredible day at the RGA Salford Winter Open 2025!
Over 50 of our Tiny Champions and Juniors stepped onto the mats today, and we couldn't be prouder.
Watching these kids go from their very first nervous day through our doors to competing with confidence alongside their teammates and friends—that's what it's all about.
The energy, the support, the smiles (and a few nerves!)—this is why we do what we do. Every single competitor showed up, gave their best, and put on a show for all our supporters today.
Massive thanks to our amazing coaching team who prepared these young athletes, to all the parents for your support, and to everyone who made today run smoothly.
Special thanks to our sponsors

for helping make this event possible.
Here's to the next chapter for all our young grapplers.
Days like today remind us why we love this sport and this community.

All my life I've played football, even through my Jiu Jitsu journey I loved to play at the weekends. It was through football that I found Jiu Jitsu some 16 years ago playing college football in New York & then Irvine, California where I first started Jiu Jitsu.
The amount of students we've had stop training for a while due to football injuries through the years has been crazy.
If you play still and you love it. You should play. Play for as long as you can. One day you will have to hang your boots up and when the times comes you'll know.
I've loved every minute of it. Unfortunately my football career come to an end with a freak accident some 8 weeks ago and you know what. I wouldn't have changed a thing.
The mental toll of being sidelined for 8 weeks hit harder than I expected. And something I wasn't prepared for. No training. No movement. All while trying to run a gym where people—our extended family—depend on you.
But after a successful operation and the incredible effort of our team keeping the Academy thriving, I'm finally back on the mats doing what I love most: coaching and helping others on their journey.
A special THANK YOU to my family, our amazing coaching staff, and a massive shout-out to all our teammates at RGA Salford for the constant support through this journey. You've been my strength when I needed it most.
It's been a long wait, and I'm nowhere near 100% yet, but as with Jiu Jitsu itself, slow and steady wins the race. The road to recovery continues, but it feels so good to be back. 🥋❤️🩹
As for the football. I guess I'll live my football dream all over again this time through my 3 boys as a Football Dad. ❤️

Looking around the mats these first weeks of 2025, and feeling incredibly proud of our BJJ family 🥋
Seeing both new and familiar faces pushing through those tough rounds, supporting each other, and celebrating every small victory together - this is what it's all about!
Every roll teaches us something new, and watching everyone turn their challenges into progress is truly inspiring. From our white belts fighting through their first submissions to our advanced students refining their game - we're all growing together on this journey.
Already feeling the incredible energy this year! Keep showing up, keep supporting each other, and keep growing.

What a night. Congratulations to everyone who received their promotions last night.
Watching them step through the doors of our Academy for the first time as a total novice. Through sacrifice and hard work they have reached their first major milestone.
Many never make it this far. Life gets in the way. Work commitments. Injuries. Whatever the reason, they give up.
The people in the first photo have dedicated a lot time and effort. They kept going. Each and everyone truly deserves it and we're all made up for them.
A night to remember 🙌

The compound effect is a principle that small, consistent actions, when performed regularly over time, can lead to significant results. This concept applies particularly well to jiu-jitsu training and development.
In jiu-jitsu, progress often feels slow and imperceptible on a day-to-day basis. You might attend class after class, drilling techniques and sparring, without feeling like you're improving. However, these small, repeated efforts accumulate over time, gradually enhancing your skills, physical conditioning, and mental resilience.
Consider this: If you attend just two classes a week, that's over 100 training sessions in a year. Each session might only yield a tiny improvement, but over months and years, these incremental gains compound into substantial progress.
It's crucial to remember that everyone, even the most skilled practitioners, started as beginners. They didn't become proficient overnight; their skills were built through consistent practice and persistence.
If you're feeling low on confidence, focus on showing up regularly and giving your best effort, rather than comparing yourself to others or expecting rapid transformations. Trust in the process and the compound effect of your training. Over time, you'll likely surprise yourself with how far you've come.
