looking to the next game like šŸ‘šŸ¾šŸ˜

Next match is Europa league, against Real Sociedad. In the last 3 matches they have won one, lost one and drawn one - but some key metrics involve the fact that they scored just 2 goals across 3 games, and conceded 5.

They’ll be on the back foot all game no doubt, but even in the first game Antony has shown he is that special type of player than can unlock even the smallest of gaps with the most innovative creativity šŸ’”

A low block doesn’t harm a player like Antony, watch and see šŸ‘€

Also those of you worried about Ronaldo or more so Casemiro and the minutes they’ve been getting, this game is the perfect fitness builder - don’t be surprised if Casemiro plays the full 90 mins.

Score predictions anyone? I know we’ll get at least 3 again šŸ‘€

Really and truly I’m actually gutted about Bailly.

I thought ETH would come in and at least attempt to iron out some of his defensive creases - I can only hope that Bailly was adamant he wanted to leave.

I’ve always been a big fan of his, and despite his ā€˜glass knees’ I just feel like all he needed was a good run in the side. For me he really does have all of the characteristics needed for defending in the Premier league, but for all of they good stuff, people really know him for his rashness.

That’s amazing to me because I think rash is literally Maguire’s middle name, so much of his actions on the pitch (and maybe off it) have been ridiculous - but there we go.

It’s only on loan, but all the best for Marseille Eric - show everyone what we all know you can do šŸ‡ØšŸ‡®šŸ˜

šŸ’” READ THE CAPTION šŸ’”

I go back and forward on this guy Richard Arnold. I won’t lie, he’s overseen A LOT since he’s been in power - he’s overseen ralf Rangnick and Ten Hag recruitments, as well as Cr7, Sancho and Varane - these are all ā€˜first in class’ type acquisitions - our demise this year definitely wasn’t due to him!

Then you look at the personnel released - Matt judge, Ed Woodward, chief scouts that oversaw a load of the transfers that ironically we will probably release for free this summer - Jim Lawlor and Marcel Bout.

Add all of this to the list of players were being linked with - is it time go get optimistic - not that we’re going to win the league next year, but that we are positioning ourselves again properly to do that?

All of this though is tempered by the fact that Richard Arnold is made from the same mould as all of the boys in the ā€˜mates rates’ union that currently governs our club, but does Richard Arnold have the ability and/or foresight to break that mould? Or does he have an ulterior motive that still doesn’t hold the progress and welfare of the club at its centre? Is he another glazer glove puppet with a good PR machine behind him?

šŸ’”READ THE CAPTIONšŸ’”

The special thing about Ten Hag coming to Utd, is that we are finally getting a coach back at the club.

When Fergie was here, he wasn’t a coach he was a man manager - but he led with development of players, he always had excellent coaches around him and brilliant assistant managers (mclaren, quieroz, etc). He let them do their magic in terms of development, he didn’t strangle the progress of players with his own man managing agenda.

Solksjaer had the managing element but not the coaching. and that would be fine - but his back room staff weren’t handling the coaching and player developing element.

Mourinho was a strategist and he even won things with United - but there was no man management element to his style, so his strategy came at a relational cost to his players.

LVG was a coach, a developer of players - however again despite winning a cup, he lacked the man management style, his strategies were a bit old school and couldn’t relate to players.

Moyes was a man manager, and personally I think didn’t have enough time. He was the one who was offered the poison chalice of taking the seat right after fergie. I actually think he could do a good job now, I just think he took it too soon. Again though, his strategies were called into question despite his man management capabilities.

Ten Hag is reknown for developing talent, but he ALSO recognises the importance of having the right back room staff around him. With him coming in, you will see player development, man management and a strategy that will motivate all of the players. We haven’t seen that balance since fergie left.

Although the problems at United are much bigger than this, I want to ask an interesting question for tomorrow’s game.

Who will start?

Rashford has had a bad return from injury, we all thought he would kick on and become a ballon d’or nominee but alas - no. He scored a good goal last time out but is he worth putting back in there from the start?

Greenwood - one of the more potent strikers at the club, surely he’s un-droppable? His form has been really good (characterised by his latest goal vs Brentford) - but will he get the nod?

Elanga - the youngest option of the 3, but what a start he’s made! Scoring almost every time he plays for his native Sweden, he has shown himself a hard working and deadly strikers out there right now - but will rangnick keep him in the first team line up?

What do you think? Let us know in the comments ā¬‡ļø

After the abysmal performance vs Newcastle, something has to change. You really have to say now the problem is in the players, they were pathetic in the last game out.

So I think in key areas CB, AM/no.10 and CF there will be changes.

Starting with the one I think should have happened (but I think he’s been ill until now) Lindelof should be coming in for Maguire. Never mind the captain, I personally don’t think he’s even good enough for the club.

Second important position is at no.10. Sancho’s form has been patchy in this new formation, but Bruno has been terrible for months now - he needs some time out of the line up, and VSB should come in. Failing that it’s lingard, both players expecting to the minutes they were promised not long ago.

Lastly up front I think rashford defintely definitely needs time out of the starting line up. Him and Bruno just have not been good enough, I think it’s a great time for martial remind us of what he can do.

Agree or disagree? Let me know in the comments.

Varane is back in training now, ready for contention against Newcastle. But who will start?

Rafael is clearly our best CB, but he’s fresh from return from an injury, it’s likely he’ll come off the bench.

Harry Maguire always has some apparent contractual clause to see him the first name on the sheet, after a long string of bad performances this season, under Ralf could we see him dethroned?

Then there’s Lindelof. Or Lindesoft. He’s actually been pretty great this year and his passing and ability on the ball is well suited to Rangaball - has he done enough to keep a place though?

Last but not least, Bailly. Arguably the best all rounder behind Varane, a partnership a lot of people would love to see - does Ralf have the same vision for that partnership?

Could we even see another formation - Ralf may be known for this 4-2-2-2 but I don’t think he’s limited to that at all...

Let me know ā¬‡ļøā¬‡ļøā¬‡ļøā¬‡ļø

By the end of the football year, could this be the picture:

Could Ralf really whip these boys into shape, win a cheeky medal but Pogba still run off with some silverware to Madrid or wherever else on a free? šŸ¤”

Has it just been the lack of tactics, the lack of silverware or something more?

Some players are gonna really get found out under this style of play.

Players like Maguire. Coming to United was a step up anyway - just coming to the club from Hull and Leicester, where the expectation was lower, and the requirement of a defender was lesser.

I think the only element to his game that can be considered elite is his headering - and as Rangnick establishes his new style, I just know he’s gonna ask even more of Maguire as a player not just a defender, and I think he’s gonna find his limit. Lindelof’s passing and greater football iq, bailly’s recovery speed, composure and ability on the ball - and Varane’s combination of all of the above, should see Maguire’s game time lessened. That’s what I see happening but you never know!

Decent result that aye? Here’s a Fred feature because I think he deserves it. Honestly he’s been great the last couple of games, maybe that’s because he’s actually playing in a position he’s comfortable in. You don’t get to play regularly for United and Brazil if both lots of coaches see nothing in you.

Food for thought when it comes to the likes of Pogba too, imagine if we released him at no.10? Bruno needs a prolonged break for me (I actually think he should play deeper than Pogba as that’s where he played doing so well for Sporting Lisbon). But that’s for another day!

Good performance, well done Fred, good first game in this pre-Rangaball era šŸ‘ØšŸ»ā€šŸ«
