Winning the Golf Foundation's Community Project of the Year award at Wentworth last week has given us a moment to stop and reflect on what we've built at Link Golf UK over the last seven years.

What started with saving Marland Golf Course from closure has grown into a portfolio of public, pay and play courses up and down the country. They are affordable, accessible and welcoming and they give people a genuine entry point into the game. Thousands of children have now picked up a club for free at our venues and that is the part of this journey we're proudest of.

As we move into phase two, we're launching Link Club, a new arm of the business that takes the infrastructure we've built and puts it to work for private members' golf clubs.

I want to be clear about one thing. This isn't about turning private clubs into municipals. It's something completely different. It's about taking the team, the systems, the experience and the resources we've developed at Link Golf and giving private members' clubs the benefit of our economies of scale, while the club keeps its identity and its traditions.

I've been a member at Manchester Golf Club and at Sandiway, so I know first hand what members expect from their club and why those standards matter.

We're genuinely excited about what comes next, for our municipal venues and for the private clubs joining us on this journey.

Andrew Terry and Joe Jackson grew up playing Marland golf course with their dads. In 2018, when Rochdale Council announced plans to close it, the childhood friends stepped in and saved it, and Link Golf UK was born. Seven years on, they run eight venues offering free golf, free weekly PGA-led coaching, and free equipment to under-16s, introducing more than 1,000 children a year to the game. That mix of rescue and reinvention is why Link Golf UK won our Community Award. Read the full story via the link in our bio, where you can meet all six President's Awards winners 🏆

Still reflecting on an unforgettable day yesterday.
On behalf of everyone at Link Golf UK, we are truly honoured to have won The Stephen Proctor Award for Community Project of the Year. 🏆

We would like to say a big thank you to the Golf Foundation and the Foundation's President, Nick Dougherty, The BMW PGA Championship, everyone at Wentworth Golf Club and huge congratulations to all the other award winners, a fantastic group.

We met some incredible people and heard powerful stories of how golf has changed the lives of children up and down the country, along with some exceptional initiatives making the game more accessible to the next generation.

We're very proud that in 2026 we've delivered free, inclusive golf sessions to more than 3,500 children.

In 2027 with the support of the Golf Foundation, we're excited to build on that and reach even more young people.

This award belongs to our whole team, our venues, and every child who picked up a club with us this year.
