THE MOMENT. 🧤

80 minutes gone. 2-1 up.
One mistake. One penalty.

A week after a 9-0 defeat, it would’ve been easy for heads to drop.

Not Niahl Mulvaney.

Penalty saved. Rebound saved. Three points protected.

A huge moment in our first senior win. 🟣🟡

JUNIOR WEEKEND REVIEW 🟣🟡

Another busy weekend for the Phoenix, with plenty of positives across the age groups and a brilliant three points for our U14 Maroons. ⚽️

U10 Maroons — A really competitive first half saw the Maroons go in just 2-1 behind, with Ollie finishing a brilliant goal. Tired legs told after the break against a Wythenshawe side with plenty of fresh options, but there was lots to be encouraged by. Strong performances throughout, with Stan taking POTM after an excellent defensive display. 🏆

U11 Maroons — No fixture this weekend.

U12 Maroons 2-4 Rose Hill Rovers — Another encouraging performance against strong opposition. Sam and Will F found the net as the Maroons produced some excellent football from back to front, particularly after the break. POTM: Sam for a tireless display, a goal and some superb link-up play. 👏

U12 Golds 1-7 Woodley Albion Blue — A difficult friendly for the Golds at Benchill, but another valuable game and plenty to learn from as the group continues to develop together.

U13 Maroons 0-1 Reddish — A battling performance against a good Reddish side. The boys defended resolutely and created opportunities of their own, with confidence receiving the ball the main area to build on. POTM: Will F, superb in defence after already playing 60 minutes beforehand. 👏

U14 Maroons 1-0 Coach Hene — What a win. 💪 Jerry’s first-half goal proved the difference before a monumental defensive effort after the break secured all three points at Rushford Park. Oscar was outstanding in goal and the entire side put their bodies on the line. POTM: Hugo, whose leadership helped drag the Maroons through a huge second half. 🏆

U14 Golds 1-6 Juno — A scoreline that didn’t reflect a performance full of positives. Archie grabbed the goal, while the Golds created plenty more opportunities throughout. POTM: Rayyan & Logan after two excellent individual performances. 🔥

Plenty learned. Plenty to build on. Onto another week. 🟣🟡

BACK WITH A BANG. 💥

Didsbury Phoenix pick up their first senior victory with a huge 2–1 win over Deans. 🟣🟡

After going behind inside two minutes, the response was outstanding. Rather than letting the early goal shake them, the lads settled into the game, started playing, and took control.

Harrison levelled things with a header from a corner before, right on the stroke of half-time, debutant AJ sat down two defenders and calmly found the bottom corner to make it 2–1. 🔥

The second half saw Didsbury control large spells of the game and, in truth, could probably have put it to bed earlier. Ricky terrorised the back line, while Malachy, also making his debut, brought a real touch of class in midfield.

Then came the moment.

Ten minutes remaining. Penalty to Deans. A chance to level it.

Niall said absolutely not. 🧤

A brilliant save low to his right kept Didsbury ahead and helped secure a massive first three points in senior football.

From front to back, the football was excellent. The communication, work rate and togetherness were even better.

🏆 MOTM — Dan Wahed
Used all over the pitch during pre-season, Dan was dropped into the middle today and told to set the tone.

He did exactly that.

Special mentions too for Cameron and AJ, who were both outstanding.

Didsbury Phoenix 2–1 Deans.
First senior win. Three points on the board.
