WE ARE RECRUITING!!!!!

It’s that time of year again where we are looking to recruit students for the upcoming season of abertay sport!

The freshers fair is taking place on Wednesday 13th September in the old college building from 11-4pm!

This is a great opportunity to meet new people and socialise, get involved in sport or a new sport and be part of a team ( if you are new to athletics or are continuing to train)!

Our training takes place at the Regional Performance Centre at Caird Park in Dundee! ( it is a 12 minute car journey from the university but there are many different bus routes that take you near the centre). We also have a group of members that walk from the library to the track aswell!

At Abertay Athletics, we offer a wide range of training sessions from sprinting to longer distance so there is something for everyone!

NO PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE IS NEEDED and all ability levels are accepted within our club.

Excitingly for the second year running, we are training with where we have lots of fun and a little bit of competition during our sessions! At our training sessions we like to have lots of fun with music on and take the stresses of uni work away for 2 hours a week!

BUCS Outdoor Athletics Championships

Great performances from Scott and Fraser in Manchester, with Scott making the semi final of the 400m and only just missing out on final, with Fraser running a hard race in the 3000m Steeplechase and taking 25 seconds off his time from Scottish Unis!

Both building on gold medals from Scottish Unis last week, well done!!

Scottish University Outdoor Championships 💙💛

Last Saturday was the start of the outdoor season! We had 4 of our athletes go through to Grangemouth to compete! Despite windy conditions, we had a very successful day gaining two more gold medals 🥇🥇

Scott Hannaway ran amazingly in his 400m coming 1st place in his heat with a time of 50.49!
He then raced again in the semi-final where he qualified for the final!
In his final, he smashed it and came 1st overall with a time of 50.02 🥇🥇

Erin Farrell competed in 200m and came 4th in her heat with a time of 29.65 with a wind speed of -7-4💨💨

Alyth Gollan competed in 1500m and came 7th overall with a time of 5.01.12🏃🏼‍♀️

Last but certainly not least we have our club president Fraser Kelly who competed in 3000m steeplechase! He came 1st place overall with an amazing time of 10.47.15 🥇🥇
This gave him good training for BUCS in Manchester this weekend!

A very enjoyable but windy day! We will be back for one last dance at aura next week for our final social with our current committee before the end of the year😭😭

Abertay Athletics Fun 5K Park Run Fundraiser💙💛

A few weeks ago, we hosted our annual fundraiser! This year, our charity of choice was the Doddie foundation 💙🤍

We managed to raise £260 which is an amazing amount going to a fantastic cause! Thank you very much to everyone who donated to our just giving page and to everyone who participated in the 5K it was a very fun day🤪

ABERTAY VS DUNDEE VS ST ANDREWS FRIENDLY MATCH 💙💛❤️🖤

On Wednesday 29th March it is our yearly meet against Dundee and St Andrews Athletics Club is back! This will be taking place at the RPC in Dundee and will include a full timetable of track, field and XC events! All Sports Union members of the club are strongly advised to join in or come along to support, no matter what experience you have!

Entries close Monday 27th March at noon!

Event will be followed by a joint social in the evening! 🍻
