Maximum performance in work is unique to each individual, and not what works for the "average" people, or what works for you.

So, challenge your team to find out how to be each be highly performing, allowing them to experiment with approaches. Follow this process:
1- Tell your team you want to spend a few months working this out.
2- Ask them to brainstorm ideas for how they could be more productive and give you the list to check.
3- After removing the ones like "only work 2 hours a year", tell them to each try the approaches for a week.
4- Ask them to keep a journal about how the different working methods affected them, and how productive they were.
5- Remember: the aim is to find the best approach for each individual, so do your best to allow them complete freedom.

If you'd like support through this process, reach out.

You have a decision to make.. could you *challenge yourself* to write down 8 different options for you to evaluate?

Why 8? Well, typically, we fall into patterns in our lives. We approach similar problems in the same one or two way, and we can become stuck in the boxes we create for ourselves.

This leads to the same conclusions time and again.

That's might be fine if you're fully succeeding with this type of problem, but what if you aren't? And be honest, there's always room for improvement.

So, define what "full success" would look like and then produce 8 different ways to solve the problem to train your brain to think outside the box, and then evaluate them.

Making decisions can be stressful.

But it doesn't have to be.

Here are three ways to mitigate that stress.

1- Recognise that life is too complex and intertwined to know what's coming down the line, so you can't ever make a perfect decision.
2- Give yourself a certain amount of time to explore options, evaluate them and to make the final decision, and then move on.
3- Work with an experienced business coach who can help to guide you to the right decision dor you.

To see how a business can struggle when putting off important decision making, read this story 😊

Recently I was working with a client unsure about whether to run a particular event. When we discussed the subject, I noticed that two sides were coming into play: one wanted to hold the event, and the other did not for fear of losing money. They felt stressed about this decision and took it too seriously; thinking about it for hours at a time and talking about it regularly. What they discovered—with my help—was that both decisions would have been OK; they just couldn't see it at the time.

This one decision took hours and hours and hours of thinking, conversation, and stress. Sure, it was a complicated decision, but the reality was that both decisions were OK, and sometimes there is no perfect decision without hindsight.

So ... if you have a decision to make ... just make it!
