This week we say farewell to NQ’s number 13 - Johnny Leota 🇳🇿

Known for his big hits on the field and for never being afraid of a good night out off it, Johnny has been a massive part to our club from the start. He’s played huge roles in both our men’s and mixed teams, including helping us to our first Mixed NTS title in 2023.

Johnny has given so much of his time and energy to touch in the region, promoting it through his rugby union circles and helping coach junior teams all the way up to national level. His generosity & passion for the sport and the people around it has left a mark that won’t be forgotten.

For now, it’s time for the next chapter as he heads to New Zealand for work and to reunite with his family - including wife Liana, eldest daughter Brooklyn and son Torres, who have all sported the NQ maroon themselves. Not forgetting Karney, Frankie and Mika who were never far from the sideline cheering us on! 📣

Johnny - you’ll be thoroughly missed by everyone in the squad and by our supporters. Safe travels, #13 - and thank you for everything you’ve given to the club 🖤

That’s a wrap on the 2025 Mixed NTS season!

A solid showing at the final event saw us go unbeaten in the pool stages with wins over Nottingham Outlaws, Chester Cheetahs, and London Scorpions. We edged past the Nottingham Mavericks in the quarter-final but couldn’t quite push through against a sharp London Eagles side in the semi. A tough 3rd/4th playoff ended in a loss to the Nottingham Hoods.

That gave us a second place finish overall in division one across all three mixed tournaments this season! Plenty to build on, and even more to be proud of.

Many congratulations to overall Mixed NTS Division One champions, on their well deserved title 👏🏻

Mixed NTS Round 2: A Day of Tight Battles!

A strong start in the pool saw the Rebels secure three solid wins, setting us up for a tough knockout run.

The quarter and semi-finals were both hard-fought, with a narrow victory in a drop off against London Eagles. In the Cup Final, Galaxy South West edged ahead in a nail-biter, taking the win after a long and exhausting drop off 🥵

🏉 Mixed NTS Round 1 Recap - second place finish for NQ Rebels! 🥈

The first mixed comp of the season is in the bag. Three wins from three in the pool stages lead us to the cup knock-out stages. Tough quarter- and semi-final victories left us facing in the cup final, where they pipped us to the trophy by one try!

A good fun start for us this season with our little team 🖤

The day was topped off with a back to back tournament MVP award for Sam Dixon, who’d been given the same award two weeks ago at Men’s Division 3 👏🏻
