Finals Day is Nearly Here!

We’re into the final stretch of this year’s club tournament, with Finals Day taking place next Saturday!

There aren’t many matches left to play now, so if you still have a match outstanding, please make sure you get it arranged as soon as possible so we’re ready for Finals Day.

A number of our finals are already confirmed:

Men’s Singles: Luke Blackburn vs Jim Fillingham

Ladies’ Doubles: Holly & Mary vs Gail & Dawn

Mixed Doubles: Amy & Luke vs Gail & Ian S

There are still a few matches to decide our Men’s Doubles and Men’s Plate finalists, so plenty of tennis still to be played before next weekend!

Good luck to everyone playing their remaining matches, and we’re looking forward to a great Finals Day! 🎾

Week 2 of the TTC Open is complete! Here are the up-to-date results after another week of tournament matches!

A reminder that we only have a limited amount of time to complete all rounds, so please keep in touch with your partners and opponents and try to be as flexible as possible when arranging matches.

Social Tennis still takes priority over tournament matches, so please keep that in mind when arranging your games.

As well as working around our usual Social Tennis sessions, please be aware that the courts will also be unavailable this Tuesday evening from 5pm–7:30pm while the Beavers are using them.

Well done to everyone who has played so far, and good luck with your next games! 🎾🏆

Last night was the Bolton League Presentation Evening, celebrating the end of the 2026 season!

Tyldesley had some trophies to collect, with our Men’s B team crowned Division 8 winners and our Mixed A team finishing as Division 3 runners-up. We also collected the Ladies’ Handicap Doubles trophy from this year’s Bolton Tennis Tournament. 🏆👏

A huge well done to everyone who played for all the teams throughout the season and contributed to the fantastic results for the club.

It was a great night and a lovely way to wrap up another season of Bolton League tennis!

The club tournament is underway, with the first matches played this week! You can see all of the results so far in the pictures below.

If you haven’t arranged your first match yet, please get in touch with your partner and opponents and get something in the diary as soon as possible. We only have one month to get all of the matches played before Finals Day, so if you spot a dry spell between the rain, make the most of it! ☔

A quick reminder that matches are best of three sets, with each set played as a tie-break set.

Tournament payment is now due:

- £4 per event
- £10 if you’re playing in all three events

Payment can be given to Gail, Alan or Luke, with cash preferred where possible.

Please also be aware that the Beavers will be using the courts this Tuesday 8th September from 6pm–7:30pm, so please don’t arrange any tournament matches during this time.

Finally, remember that Social Tennis takes priority over tournament matches, so please arrange your matches around the usual Social Tennis sessions.

Good luck to everyone still to play their first matches, and let’s hope for some dry weather! 🤞

The draws for the TTC 2026 Open are now complete!

For any men who haven’t been drawn a partner in the mixed doubles, this is simply because we have fewer women than men taking part. You only need to pay for the events you have been drawn in.

We will be operating a US Open-style withdrawal system. If a man has to withdraw before their first match, a message will be sent out and one of the men who wasn’t originally drawn a partner can take their place on a first come, first served basis.

A reminder that we only have one month to get all matches played. With the weather starting to turn, there are likely to be lots of matches being arranged around similar times, so please be prepared to play at fairly short notice where possible and keep an eye on your messages from partners and opponents. 👍🏻

Please also remember that Social Tennis takes priority over tournament matches, so please avoid arranging your matches during our usual Social Tennis sessions on Monday and Thursday evenings from 6pm and Saturday mornings from 10am.

Good luck to everyone taking part – let the tournament begin! 🎾🏆

Here are the pairings and ball numbers for the TTC 2026 Open!

Are you happy with your partner? 🎾

The draw will be made tomorrow at 10am, at the start of Saturday Social Tennis, to find out who everyone will be facing in the first round.

And don’t forget to save the date for Finals Day – Saturday 10th October.

Good luck to everyone taking part!

Those results mean the A team finish 2nd and will be promoted to Division 2 next year – a fantastic achievement! 👏 The B team finish 3rd in Division 5, securing their place in the division for next season after a great year of tennis. Well done to everyone who has played for both teams this season! 🎾

Weekly Match Round-Up!

A huge congratulations to our Men’s B team, who have finished the Bolton League season top of Division 8 and will be promoted to Division 7 next season! 👏 They rounded off their season with a 5-4 away win against Astley & Tyldesley C on Monday. A fantastic achievement and well done to everyone who has played for the team this season!

The Men’s A team also finished their Bolton League season with a win, beating Markland Hill C at home. They finish the season safely in Division 4, where they’ll compete again next year. Well done to everyone who has represented both of our men’s teams throughout the season.

Both of our Bolton Mixed League teams had a week without a fixture and will play their final matches of the season next week.

There was also cup action this week. Our Tyldesley team competing in the McBrien Cup sadly lost to Lostock in the semi-final on Friday. Well done to the team for making it through to the semi-finals and to everyone who represented Tyldesley throughout the competition.

Our Leigh Mixed League team also reached the semi-final of the Wisden Cup, where they narrowly lost to Leigh A by just four games. Well done to everyone who has represented the team throughout the Leigh League season and cup competition.

With the Bolton Men’s League now finished for the season, Monday night Social Tennis will resume from 6pm. We hope to see plenty of you down at the club! 🎾

It was another week of league tennis, with our teams competing in the Bolton and Leigh leagues.

Monday night’s Bolton Men’s League brought two tough fixtures. The A team unfortunately lost 7-2 at home to Holcombe Brook C, while the B team narrowly lost 5-4 away at Hawkshaw C.

Tuesday was a fantastic evening for our Bolton Mixed League teams. The A team recorded an outstanding 9-0 home win over Markland Hill C, while the B team also enjoyed an excellent result, winning 8-1 away at Markland Hill D. Congratulations to both teams on two superb performances! 👏

Our Leigh Mixed League team were also in action on Tuesday in the first round of the Wisden Cup, following the conclusion of the league season. The team secured a 45-39 victory over Parr Fold to progress to the next round. Well done to everyone involved!

With the Walkden League season now complete, many of the players came together on Wednesday evening for a celebration and some social tennis. It was a great way to round off another enjoyable season and celebrate everyone’s efforts throughout the year.
