Life is not about how many times you fall down. It’s about how many times you get back up 💪🏻

Breathe, Stretch, Shake 🧘🏻♀️
Do you actually take time to stretch?
Try taking 10 minutes out of your day to release your body, especially if you spend a large amount of time sitting!
Roll your shoulders, turn your head side to side, take a big reach up to the ceiling then fold forwards and aim to touch your toes - try to relax your body as much as you can and breathe through it
Even this short release can do wonders for your body and your mind after spending the day hunched over staring at screens
Let me know your favourite stretches…

✨ From the struggle comes the strength ✨
One of my favourite quotes
It’s been a hard couple of months but I’m finally feeling ready to start being my normal self again

Let’s talk body appreciation 🙌🏻
These two pictures are taken about 18 months apart
December 2019 ➡️ July 2021
A lot has happened in that time (obviously!)
But one thing I’ve been annoyingly conditioned to focus on is that I’ve gained weight and lost muscle definition
In fact when we first went back into the gyms after lockdown a member kindly pointed this out to me and used it to make themselves feel better as at least it had happened to the fitness instructor so they didn’t need to feel so bad!
Now I also know that there really isn’t that much difference between the 2 photos
If you really look at the photos you will eventually see the physical differences but at first glance it just looks like I’m wearing different outfits
But the difference in my head is vast
I’ve been struggling with negative thoughts around not being fit enough to teach, not looking the part, but fitting into some of the clothes I’d wear to teach/train all the time before the pandemic
But you know what?
People are still coming to my classes, they still smile at me and say thank you at the end and ask what other times I teach so they can book on
I can still do all of my classes and talk at the same time! Yes it was a little harder when we first went back to the gyms but it was always going to be as I hadn’t been doing a full teaching and train schedule in my tiny flat during lockdown whilst working from home because I just couldn’t and tbh just didn’t want too
There are more important things in life than muscle definition and the number on the label in your clothes
So I’m urging you whatever your body has been through in the last 18 months to just appreciate what your body can do for you - it keeps you alive every single day and that’s incredible!
If your body allows you to do all of the things you need to do to live your life to the fullest then you should take a moment to appreciate that
I’m not about all this self-love, toxic positivity, my body is a temple nonsense - I don’t think it’s helpful - what is helpful is taking 1-2 minutes out of your day to just think “yeah I’m doing the things I want to do with my body and I can appreciate how good that is”

I ❤️ this quote so much
We are constantly told in life to be happy, cheer up, put on a brave face, snap out of it, look on the bright side, keep it positive etc etc etc
But how can you know what true joy feels like if you’ve never experienced sadness?
How would you know how incredible it is to feel happy/joyful and on top of the world if you’ve never felt how crushing it can be to feel sad or depressed?
It’s ok to feel your emotions
I repeat
IT’S OK TO FEEL YOUR EMOTIONS
Feel them all, feel them intensely, let them consume you and take you to places you didn’t know were possible
Having a range of emotions makes us human, plain and simple!
There can be no joy without sadness and the more people start accepting this and processing their emotions rather than bottling it all up we’d all be better for it
Share if you agree!

Just not been feeling my best recently tbh
Don’t know if it’s because it’s getting colder / darker or something else entirely but I’m just struggling a bit right now
Can’t seem to settle into any real routines, motivation is low, body confidence is low and I feel like I’m doubting myself and every decision I make
Don’t really know where I’m going with this but just thought I’d say that I’m struggling atm and if you’re struggling too then you are not alone

🇬🇧 LONDON BABY! 🇬🇧
First trip to the city in 2 years and it did not disappoint!
✅ Lots of good food
✅ Plenty of alcohol
✅ Walk in Regents Park in the rain
✅ British Museum
✅ Come From Away 🎶 at the Phoenix Theatre - an amazing musical, if you love the theatre you have to see this show, everything a musical should be with uplifting songs, incredibly clever use of staging and choreography and an amazing story ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
✅ Surprise trip to the Harry Potter Studio Tour 😍 booked this as a surprise for my birthday and I had no idea we were going until we arrived in London, as a huge HP fan who has always dreamed of visiting the studios it was amazing to see and experience (not a fan of the butter beer though 😱)⚡️
What a weekend!

💩 I SAY WHEN TEACHING - PART 1
This is one of my favourite cues to use in pretty much every class I teach
I really enjoy telling people that it’s ok to take a break
IT’S OK TO TAKE A BREAK
(for the people in the back who weren’t listening the first time!)
Our bodies and minds need time to rest and recover so we can grow, repair and ultimately come back stronger 💪🏻
In a fitness class even 10 seconds of recovery can have huge benefits, just taking a few seconds to breath, shake off and refocus can be all someone needs to feel successful and like they can keep going
I promise if you’re in a class and you take a bit of time to move off to the side, have a drink or just breath no one will judge you negatively
You’re doing something really great, you’re listening to your body and giving it what it needs
The challenge is coming back in after taking your recovery - that’s growth mindset - that’s having the knowledge that yes it’s hard right now but if I keep going, practicing and giving the best I can then it will get better
As an instructor one of my biggest goals when teaching is giving people permission to move in ways that feel right for them, empowering people to have autonomy over their workouts so they feel in control and want to keep coming back because it feels good not because they “have too”
So, if you need recovery, take it, then come back in strong 💪🏻
