As a personal trainer I'm asked a lot of questions.
I enjoy answering them, but I also enjoy questioning why the question has been asked, if that makes sense. Frequently asked questions are asked either because they've not been answered concisely enough in the past, because they're inherently confusing or just because people don't listen.
'How many calories do I need to lose weight?' falls under all three. The answer is always tailored to the individual asking the question and CAN NEVER be answered with a one size fits all approach as it has been many times before.
To help you out, I've created a graphic that absolutely anyone can use. It's a rough calculation, but an evidence based one and one that will help you to get started.

18 LBS DOWN!
I always ask clients for a bit of a dream goal, just to see what they really want.
Being realistic is good, but most of the time people who are relatively low in self confidence are unsure on what actually is realistic.
wanted to get to 10 stone when she first contacted me 12 weeks ago. We worked back from that goal and now here we are, 18lbs down and approaching the Holy grail that seemed a long way away at the start.
Courtney has dealt with eating out, weekend drinks, dodgy shift patterns and even her parents visiting from the US, using simple measures that have ensured sustainable weight loss throughout the process so far.

It is estimated that 400 million cups of coffee are consumed per day in the USA.
When you consider the USA doesn't even make the top 8 when it comes to cups consumed per country (Finland tops the list), that's a hell of a lot of coffee consumed globally per day.
Caffeine is a naturally occurring stimulant found in the leaves of many plants and seeds. It has been shown to have positive effects on Alzheimers, Parkinsons, pain perception, appetite suppression and increased mental focus.
But it's commonly used as self medication for chronic fatigue. Caffeine isn't your problem here, other lifestyle factors need to be looked at if you're permanently tired.
Caffeine can and should be used for its amazing properties, but by ensuring it's not overdone you can look after your sleep and energy levels.
