U15s Girls Sail Through Opening Cup Round!

The U15 Girls hit the road once again, for their first cup game in the Girls U15 Club T20 - North. Arriving at Sale Sports Club under clear skies and warm conditions, the girls were in a buoyant mood.

The toss was won, and WRCC chose to bat, aiming to keep the scoreboard moving and set a competitive target. Despite a slight stutter in the second over as Sanji’s wicket fell to a great delivery, the girls settled in and started to make waves. Contributions, boundaries and positive came throughout the order, with double figures from Amelia, Hannah B, Jiyah and Hattie who retired on a decisive boundary. Wickets fell, but lovely shots from Daisy, Nell and Martha made it difficult for Sale in the final overs, and the visitors posted a competitive total of 146.

In response, Sale’s openers looked confident despite the total, and matched the required run rate, but their positive start stuttered with Amelia and Jiyah taking wickets in the second and third overs. Nell got in to the action in her first over taking another wicket. A double wicket maiden from Amelia in the fifth, and the opposition were all but sunk. The final wicket fell to a beautifully flighted ball from Sanji landing in the safe hands of Daisy at mid on.

The result takes the U15 Girls through to round three of the north phase of the Vitality Girls U15 Club T20 Cup. Attention turns now to the league cup with the next fixture against Timperely CC on Thursday.

U11s Top Table After Timperely Win!

The U11 Lions traveled to Timperley CC for their rescheduled fixture on what turned out to be a cool Monday evening.

Losing the toss the Lions were inserted and some good early bowling had TCC ahead of the game taking early wickets. Thankfully the middle order held tight with Zeki, Dhilan and Jack all retiring with some good patient batting on show. This allowed the lower order to come in and bat freely with a solid run rate towards the end of the Innings allowing the Lions to amass 145.

Once again Billy and Edward M steamed in and were eventually too much for the TCC batters, exposing their middle order. The Lions quickly took advantage and although the 'full & straight' message took a while to execute, pretty much all the bowlers took wickets, eventually bowling TCC out for 41.

Another brilliant performance from the Lions who sit solidly at the top of the table. Well done all.

U9s Winning in Trafford!

Our U9s travelled to Trafford Metroviks on a cool Monday night for our third match of the season.

The Whalley Range team were asked to field first and the boys put in an excellent performance. With some fine bowling from all players. Dhani, Khalil and Yaqoob bowled with skill and style showing how much they are all developing. Fin picked up his first wicket and debutants Nayan, Leo and Stan all bowled nicely and grew in confidence, while Ethan bowled an incredible leg spin ball which fizzed through the air.

The fielding led by Caolan showed lots of improvement as the players are learning their roles and the importance of ‘backing up’ the wicket keeper or bowler as a second line of defence.

Our batting was really impressive too. Some big shots including sixes and fours but also some really great running between the wickets meant we scored quickly and without many run outs.

After 16 overs we had scored 92 runs for the loss of 5 wickets which is excellent and we were all really proud of the team who picked up their first win of the season.

Finally, it was lovely to see the whole team in full kit with their WR caps. They looked great!

3 in a Row! U11s Win Lancs Cup Again!!

Our all conquering u11s have won the Lancs Cup for the 3rd year in a row! In a top quality finals day, on hold since 2025 and played under the sunshine in Orrell, our u11s first had to overcome a strong Lytham CC in the semis and then went on to beat an excellent Sefton Park in the final. An action-packed final over included Sefton's batter hitting a windscreen-smashing 6 over the club house, followed by a suicidal run out which meant that they had too much to do off the last ball. And jubilant scenes followed.

Well done to the 9 players who all contributed to a magnificent performance. And well done to Pete and the coaching team for making it all happen.

Whalley Range u11s are the champions of all of Lancashire!
