We are deeply saddened to share the recent passing of Bob Merrell, "Coach Bob", a true Salford Harrier through and through.
Bob gave so much to our club over many decades – as a talented athlete in his own right, a dedicated team manager, and a hugely respected coach of international athletes. His passion for running and unwavering commitment to others helped shape generations of athletes, many of whom credit Bob not just for their performances, but for their love of the sport.
More than anything, Bob will be remembered for his kindness, encouragement, and the way he made every individual feel valued. He built not just strong runners, but a strong and supportive community. His impact on the club, on Heaton Park sessions, and on generations of runners will not be forgotten. He leaves behind a lasting legacy in the people he helped, the confidence he built, and the spirit he brought to the club.
Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this difficult time.
Rest in peace, Bob. You will be greatly missed and fondly remembered. 🔴⚪️🔴🙏
