A little summer holiday clear-out led me to an unexpected trip down memory lane...
I found these old name labels from when our children were at primary school. I remember spending hours sticking them into uniforms, PE kits, shoes, lunchboxes, pencil cases... everything! π
Please tell me I'm not the only one who spent an entire day labelling absolutely everything before the new school year... π

As Multi Academy Trusts prepare for the introduction of Benedict's Law, one question keeps coming up:
"How do you introduce consistent allergy and anaphylaxis recording across every school in your Trust without asking everyone to change their existing systems?"
We've listened.
Schools can now use First Aid Forms' dedicated Allergy & Anaphylaxis module, including Allergy Near Miss reporting, without purchasing the full First Aid Forms platform.
That means schools can:
β
Record allergy and anaphylaxis incidents consistently.
β
Capture allergy near misses to help identify trends and improve safety.
β
Support the enhanced allergy recording expectations under Benedict's Law.
β
Continue using their existing first aid recording system if they choose.
Most importantly, we've deliberately made this available as a standalone solution because we don't believe cost should be a barrier to improving pupil safety.
If you're a Designated Allergy Lead, Trust Safeguarding Lead or part of a MAT leadership team and would like to explore the system, simply comment DEMO below or send me a direct message and I'll arrange free access to our demonstration site.
Together, we can help schools strengthen allergy awareness, improve incident recording and make school environments safer for every child.

We'd just like to say thank you π₯°
To every first aider who dealt with bumps, bruises and poorly tummies.
To every member of staff who stepped in during an emergency.
To every school office team who somehow managed to keep on top of the endless paperwork.
The work you do sometimes goes unnoticed, but it makes a huge difference to the children in your care.
So as we approach the end of term, we just wanted to *thank you*! We hope you all have a well-deserved summer break. π

π Behind the scenes...
Mark's been busy working on something we're really excited about.
We're putting the finishing touches to brand-new onboarding training to accompany our demo app, giving schools the chance to explore how it works using realistic scenarios.
The training will include examples covering:
π©Ή First aid incidents
π Medication administration
πΏ Allergy and anaphylaxis incidents
β οΈ Allergy near-misses
As well as showing how to record each scenario, we'll also be sharing practical hints and tips on what makes a clear, useful report.
Our aim isn't just to show people how to use the appβit's to help schools feel confident recording incidents accurately and consistently.
We'll share more as it's taking shape, but for now... it's back to testing, tweaking and plenty of coffee! βπ

With Benedict's Law bringing a renewed focus to allergy safety in schools, we've been working hard behind the scenes to ensure the First Aid Forms app is ready to support schools every step of the way.
Our platform has been further developed to help schools record and manage:
π©Ή First aid incidents
πΏ Allergy and anaphylaxis incidents
β οΈ Allergy near misses
π Medication administration
We've also been creating training resources and realistic scenarios to help staff feel confident using the system and recording incidents clearly and consistently.
For us, Benedict's Law isn't simply about meeting a new requirement. It's about supporting schools with practical tools that make record keeping easier, help identify patterns, and ultimately contribute to safer outcomes for pupils.
If your school is preparing for the changes, we'd be delighted to show you how First Aid Forms can help.

Feedback like this means the world to us π
When we created First Aid Forms, our goal wasn't just to digitise paperwork - it was to make life a little easier for busy school staff.
Every feature is designed with schools in mind, because we know first aiders need to focus on the child in front of them, not wrestle with complicated systems.
A huge thank you to this school for taking the time to share their experience. Hearing that what we've built is making a difference is exactly why we do what we do.

Please help Benedict Blythe Foundation spread the word by sharing this post. π
Today is a landmark day for children with allergies.
The Department for Education has published new statutory guidance on allergies in schools β the first step in delivering Benedictβs Law.
From September, maintained schools in England will be expected to introduce life-saving measures, including:
π Spare emergency adrenaline auto-injectors (AAIs)
π A whole-school allergy policy
π Individual Healthcare Plans for pupils with allergies
π Allergy awareness training for all staff
This is the biggest change to allergy safety in schools in a generation and has the potential to make schools safer for hundreds of thousands of children.
This moment has only been possible because of the families who shared their stories, the clinicians, teachers, charities, parliamentarians and supporters who campaigned alongside us. Thank you.
Today is a milestone. The work continues until every child, in every school, across every nation of the UK is protected.
Please help us spread the word by sharing this post. π

It might be the weekend... but September has a habit of arriving much faster than we'd like!
Before the end of term, it's worth checking that your first aid & anaphylaxis supplies, as well as your recording systems, are ready to go when the new school year begins.
A few minutes now can save a lot of time later:)
