It’s a HUGE week across the club, with Wheelchair Rugby League, the Lions’ final game of the season and a massive Semi-Final for the Lionesses! 💙

Our Wheelchair Rugby League side are recruiting new players as we continue building towards an exciting 2027 season!

Whether you’re experienced or completely new, disabled or non-disabled, everyone is welcome to come down and give it a go.

We’re incredibly proud to see our very own Emma Welsford recognised by Salford City Council as one of 𝗦𝗮𝗹𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗱’𝘀 𝟭𝟬𝟬 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗼𝗲𝘀! 👏

From starting rugby league at 12 to captaining Scotland and now pulling on the Manchester Swinton Lionesses shirt, Emma is a brilliant example of where hard work, commitment and a love for the game can take you. 🏉🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

And she’s doing it all alongside studying law at university, working and tutoring! 💪

A fantastic recognition for a fantastic Lioness. Congratulations, Emma – thoroughly deserved! 🦁🩷💙

Meet Emma Welsford from Boothstown 👋

Emma began playing rugby league at 12 after a friend encouraged her to give it a go. Six years later, she was chosen to captain Scotland.

Now 20, Emma plays for Manchester Swinton Lionesses while studying law at the University of Warwick. She also works in a café and tutors students preparing for their A-levels.

Despite training, studying and travelling around the country to play, Emma says the support she receives from her family, friends and local community back home in Salford is always with her.

Emma hopes to play in a World Cup one day and we’re very proud to name her as one of Salford’s 100 Heroes 🏉
