3 lessons from the past 2 years of my own fitness journey Part 1:
⚫️It’s a constant inner game.
The voice in your head telling you to stay in bed, to miss a session, to chose the easier option will always be there. But the more you push against it, the quieter it becomes.
You need to learn when to push and when to pull and this only comes with time and practice.
⚫️My goals must align.
I’ve set contradicting goals many times before such as ‘Grow muscle’ and “lose X amount of body fat’. It leaves you getting very stuck, very quick. And you end up losing at both goals making no progress.
Make sure all goals align with each other and know each goal should be done within a specific phase.
One focus at a time.
⚫️Fitness should ENHANCE my life, not BECOME my life.
I love fitness and so do the BYB girls. It’s fun, it makes us feel good, it gives us energy and drive. It is a huge part of my identity now!
But there should always be a Ying to a Yang. Go hard at fitness but also go hard on recovery and making memories.

‘Tis the season to be STRONG AF, Fa la la la la la la la la.
It’s been a big few months for the BYB ladies.
Lucy hit a 100KG glute drive and 80KG hack squat.
Anna hit a 80KG squat and body weight pull ups for reps.
Cherie hit a 140KG on the glute drive
Lizzie hit a 200kg on the leg press
Danielle hit a 85KG barbell RDL
The truth is getting strong isn’t easy.
It requires the consistency to show up and keep putting in the reps.
The grit to push through even when your head tells you to stop.
and the attention to detail with your nutrition and recovery.
But the results in these women’s physiques will speak for themsleves.
You can’t build the body of your dreams without this.

You can’t enjoy Christmas the way you deserve to if you’re constantly worrying about the food.
All the food at social gatherings,
The meals out and the drinks,
The extra chocolate and mince pies,
The alcohol and lack of your usual structure.
How can you be present with your family if you’re worrying ‘how many calories are on your plate of food?’
‘What damage is this going to do to my progress?’
It can become all consuming.
The more you think about it the more you stress.
The more you stress the less control you have.
The less control you have the more rational your decisions.
The more rational your decisions the more damage you do.
It’d a baaaad cycle and Santa would not be happy.
It’s such a common problem that us women have and it’s usually only because we have high standards for ourselves and we don’t want to let them to slip.
I’d say 99% of the women on the BYB team originally start with this problem!
But there is a sweet spot amongst the turkey and stuffing...
Theres is a place that exists where you can relax,
learn to enjoy some celebration choccies,
and be present this Christmas.. without going backwards.
You just need to have the correct support and strategy.

WOMEN.
I’m here to tell you, you deserve better for yourself.
You have more to give yourself.
You’ve put a glass ceiling over your head and have tricked yourself into thinking where you’re at right now is where you’re supposed to be.
But I can see straight through that glass ceiling and I know you’re worthy of more. 👀
The problem is you don’t know where to start.
You’ve tried eating better and cleaning up your diet.
You’ve tried telling yourself you’ll get to the gym more.
You’ve failed to make progress forward.
So what now. 🤯

Ladies, your cycle matters.
Unfortunately within the fitness Industry a woman’s cycle tends to be swept under the carpet.
Women, the truth is your cycle has such a huge impact on your body,
your performance,
your mood and your overall mental state.
An example:
If you’re a week before your period and your strength goes to s**t in the gym,
You have cravings for high carb based foods,
You find your sleep quality decreasing,
And you suddenly find yourself in a poor head space wanting to quit and hide..
If
This may be the reason why.
This doesn’t give you ‘excuses’,
But what it does give you is power.
Power to understand yourself.
Power to take the action required at that time.
Power to add a bit more compassion to yourself.
And power to work with yourself >> not against yourself.
Something I’m so passionate about it making sure you women know what’s going on with your body >> whilst still been able to boss the gym and get your goals crushed.

5 years from now…
This week me and Jordan were talking about our future vision for our life.
Where do we want to live?
What’s the longer goal?
Where will Nalani go to school?
All the adult questions 😂
We realised it’s currently a bit blurred.
As you’re all aware we love setting goals.
For ourselves but also for you guys too.
Why?
Because vision is important, having something to strive towards rather than letting life drag you by.
Anyway we got our phones out and decided to LOOK BACK at where we were at 5 years ago.
We were shocked.🤯
5 years ago we were living with parents,
No money to our name as we’d just returned home from our travels.
I was working in a coffee shop whilst picking up PT clients,
Jordan was recovering from a huge arthritis flare up and surgery.
We had no home,
No Koda,
No Nalani,
No BestYetBodies,
No engagement ring…
5 years in your lifetime isn’t long at all.
But just look at what can be achieved in that amount of time! 🌍
Sometimes going too far in the future is uncalled for..
It’s great to have goals and a future vision for yourself,
But you don’t always have to have all the answers.
I cannot wait for Thursday to get together with the BYB squad and can get an insight to their future vision and set some goals to help get them there!
Although, we’ll be aiming to make 2024 the best year of their lives …

You will fail your fitness journey if you don't do this..
If you don't create a process that enhances your life, you will fail.
'Love the process' - it's cliche.
But those who find fulfilment in the process will forever win.
When you're absolutely dreading walking into the gym,
Finding yourself lost with no set plan of action,
Constantly questioning yourself about your calories and meals...
You'll fail.
Heres what i suggest you do, as your coach...
1. I want you to think about your future self, what does she look like? Feel like? What is she doing?
From here you can set some super precise goals (bring on the BYB Dare to Dream event!).
2. I want you to then find a gym environment you feel comfortable in - If you currently despise your gym try a new one.
3. Now you need to ask yourself whats a realistic number of times you will be getting to the gym per week.
4. Set yourself a calorie range and plan out meals you love ahead of time.
5. Go to bed at a decent time, start saying no to things that don't align with your new goals and make sure you're filling your time with things that fill you up.
6. TAKE ACTION & STAY CONSISTENT.
Obviously this all sounds easier said than done and with me as your coach i take care of all of the above - plus a lot more.
But the point here is it doesn't need to be massively complicated or overwhelming to get your results and change your life - especially with the BYB team on your side.

Heres where i see most women going wrong with their fitness journey.
I'll jump straight in..
They want to achieve it all, at once.
I have been so guilty of this too and honestly still have to check my goals aren't misaligned.
You want to lose body fat whilst growing glutes and running a marathon and eating as flexible as possible whilst getting abs and lifting 100kg+.
You want to have your cake and eat it - and don't we all!
Heres the big BOMBSHELL...
You can have all the cake in the world and eat it, just not all at once.
Here me out..
I get you to lose body 12-24lbs body fat whilst getting you fitter and more confident in the gym whilst revealing those abs.
and then
I can increase your food so you're able to eat with a lot more flexibility whilst growing your glutes and getting you stronger than ever,
and THEN (the party doesn't stop there)....
I get you s**t hot at lifting, running and crushing goals you never dreamt possible for yourself whilst maintaining this incredible physique and new structure to your life we've built.

'Fitness' lightbulb moments you need to hear: (part 1)
- Intention is everything.
If you go through the motions with your fitness journey, it'll usually be short lived.
Having a clear understanding of why you're doing what you're doing and having meaning behind it will lead you to feeling fulfilled.
This is why i'm so huge on goal setting and creating that bigger vision for yourself - you need that drive and focus.
-Getting comfortable should never be the goal.
Of course we all want to feel confident with what we're doing and know we're bossing our sessions, bringing us 1 step closer to our goal..
But i know that if i'm rocking up to my sessions pretty chill and just going with the mentality to 'turn up and tick a box' .. something needs to change.
Setting bigger goals, getting outsider my comfort zone, trying something new - are all great ways to get me away from comfrot.
- Leaning into resistance will allow you to level up.
When i feel resistance to do something, i know more often than not this is in fact a good sign and i need to lean into it more.
When i get the feeling i don't want to do something and i do it - i know i've just stacked myself another brick of self trust up and my future self will thank me.

I’ve been feeling pretty run down this past 1-2 weeks now.
Here’s a process of questions I take myself through when I’m feeling run down and I’m not obviously physically sick.
(This is the approach I’d also take my girls through too when they’re not feeling themselves).
Q1: Stress levels - always highly underestimated and often neglected.
Q2: Sleep hygiene and quality
Q3: Nutrition and hydration intake.
Q4: Hormone regulation (turns out - this is the answer for me this time around 👋🏼)
Once I’ve pin point the problem/s (there is usually more than one,
When one of these goes down the others tend to follow) we can start to make amends and take the action we need to help ourselves get back to full health.

Here’s potentially the worlds most cringey photo (that was taken 8 years ago now, hello low rise gymshark leggings 😮)
But I share this because I want to show you how long we’ve been in the game ourselves and what I’ve personally learnt about transforming my body since then.
The main problem I was facing was I was trying to build muscle and lose fat all at once.
Which honestly lead me to make very little progress across the board.
I never changed 🤣
I didn’t understand that results lie in the phases you go through. Not just by “going to the gym”.
That if I just committed to ONE SPECIFIC GOAL at a time and gave that phase my all, my results would have sky rocketed.
I spent years going back and forth.
Whenever I gained a pound I’d need to “diet” again.
But yet I was still trying to build muscle to tone… 🫨😵💫
I talk to a lot of your girls and hear this from you all.
You want to “lose fat and tone”.
This Is amazing because it’s what a transformation will consist of..
But to see the results you’re after there are specific phases you need to go through.
These phases need to be super clear to you and you need to give that phase your all - no swapping to another goal mid way through.
Basically girls.
Don’t make my mistake and go around in circles for years.
I’ve created the phases to take you through to immediately allow you to see results so you don’t beat your head against the wall like I did.
For years.
Let’s change the game like gymshark changed the low rise leggings.
Commit to one goal. One phase at a time. And watch the results fly in 🚀
