If you've never tried YOGA and your reason is:
A) "I'm bad at it" - how do you know, if you've never tried?😅
B) "Too stiff" - that's should be the reason you actually stretch more
C) "Not vegetarian" - me neither, doesn't really matter much when you exercise for your body, not for spiritual reason
D) "It's too voo voo / my religion doesn't allow me" - spirituality aspect is often optional in the class.
Meditation can be replaced by your usual prayer, chanting (oooommm) it's simply the way to vibrate your throat and activate parasympathetic nervous system (relaxing one, "rest & digest" as opposed to "fight or flight" - stress response)
I'm passionate about understanding physiology and science behind exercises, and I believe in quantum physics law: our cells and thoughts produce energy, waves, so "spiritual" becomes more "logical"
Our brain can operate on the different wave frequencies (ever used a radio?). Meditation can be as restorative as a quality sleep!
Spirituality in yoga - learning to calm your thoughts, mindfulness, grounding yourself, breathwork - is really helpful with stress, anxiety, sleep, digestion, emotional reactiveness, muscle tension, pain...
Not every yoga class is the same, as there's a few main schools of yoga, and thousands of modern variations 🙂
Generally speaking:
🟢 2 EASIEST ones: Yin Yoga (slow movement, holding light stretching poses, using bolsters, blankets) and Yoga Nidra ("yogic sleep" - deep relaxation while listening to guided meditation read by instructor, often just a great snooze 😉)
🔵 2 worth considering as a beginner: Iyengar Yoga (using lots of props to teach a perfect technique), Hatha Yoga (slower tempo, holding poses for longer)
🟡 Vinyasa Yoga - flowing movement synchronised with breath, can be overwhelming for the first timer, depending on a teacher can be dynamic
🟠Hot Yoga (or Bikram) - rather intense, Vinyasa or Hatha but in 35-42°C so reaaaally hot. If you don't like the heat or sweating
🔴 Ashtanga Yoga - fast pace, but familiar sequences. Pretty intense and challenging. Best for experienced ones!
If yoga is still too spiritual, check out an

Which one you think will make the biggest difference for you to get a quality sleep each night?
Always explaining the exercise in detail and making it fun 😄
CORE - every exercise requires it's, learn to activate it and strengthen it. Boat pose used in yoga, Pilates and in the abs classes works on your hip flexors and lower back strength 🙂 (might not be safe if you have a bulging disc/lower back pain!)
