🏏 Match Report – Walkden U11s vs Prestwich U11s 🏏

Walkden won the toss and elected to bat first, making another strong start to the innings. Alfie and Carter once again provided an excellent platform with a confident opening partnership, playing some superb shots and rotating the strike well.

The middle order faced some disciplined bowling from Prestwich, with a few wickets falling along the way. However, the pairs continued to score important runs and kept the scoreboard moving. Our final batting pair gave the innings a real boost, with Charlie top-scoring with an outstanding 27 runs, well supported by Freddie. Walkden finished their 16 overs on 139/7, giving us a net score of 297.

Our batting has been consistently strong throughout the season, and today was another excellent team performance.

Prestwich came into the game full of confidence following their victory the previous week, but from the very first over they were put under pressure by Walkden’s outstanding bowling and exceptional fielding. Nathaniel struck first with another superb wicket, before Ibrahim followed with one of his own. Both bowlers delivered wicket maidens and finished with remarkable figures, conceding just 2 runs from 2 overs each.

The high standard continued throughout the innings, with Carter, Harrison and Charlie all claiming wickets as Walkden maintained control. A special mention must go to every player for their fielding performance. The improvement shown week after week is clear to see, with excellent teamwork, energy and commitment on display throughout the match. When the team performs like that, they are an absolute pleasure to watch.

A massive congratulations to everyone involved on another fantastic all-round performance. We now look ahead with excitement to the next few weeks as we begin our cup campaign.

Carter continues to improve every single week and plays the game with a smile on his face. His enthusiasm is infectious, and he leads by example in every aspect of the game. Another brilliant all-round performance made him a thoroughly deserving Player of the Match. Congratulations, Carter! 👏

🏏 Walkden Warriors 9s VS Roe Green 9s 🏏

Walkden finished the game on 254 runs following an encouraging batting display from the team. Jack was the standout performer with an impressive 18 runs, including three boundaries, while Tilly and Huz kept the Roe Green fielders under constant pressure with positive running between the wickets and intelligent batting.

Unfortunately, the loss of too many wickets at crucial stages meant Walkden were unable to build the momentum needed to secure victory, eventually falling 60 runs short.🏏

✨There were plenty of positives to take from the performance, particularly with the ball. Huz delivered an excellent spell, including a maiden over, helping to restrict a strong and experienced Roe Green batting line-up. His all-round contribution earned him this week’s Player of the Match award.✨

Most importantly, the team continues to show fantastic development week after week. Every player is improving with each game, and with the entire squad still having several years remaining at Under-9 level, there is plenty to look forward to for the future.🏏

🏏 Match Report | Walkden Wanderers U9s vs Walshaw 🏏

It was a tough Sunday morning fixture for our Walkden Wanderers U9s as they took on a strong and experienced Walshaw side.

Walkden lost the toss, with Walshaw choosing to bowl first. Their bowlers displayed excellent accuracy throughout the innings, while their fielding was well organised and disciplined, resulting in a number of wickets that kept our batting line-up under pressure.

Avy and Vish got the innings underway with some confident stroke play, before George and Hashir continued with an improved and impressive batting display. Finley and Lily were the standout performers with the bat, showing great determination and resilience as they worked hard to rebuild the innings despite the regular loss of wickets.

In the field, the team gave their all against a very capable Walshaw batting line-up. Although it proved to be a challenging game, every player showed excellent effort and commitment from start to finish. It was particularly pleasing to hear Walshaw’s coach praise our players for their determination and work ethic, which was a credit to the entire team.

🌟Player of the Match goes to Finley, who scored an impressive 32 runs, bowled brilliantly with noticeably improved pace and accuracy, and contributed strongly in the field. A fantastic all-round performance—well done, Finley! 🌟
