There’s nothing like a new bike brand day at the shop. When it’s a performance orientated, versatile and innovative brand like Otso Cycles you can colour us super excited for what lies ahead.

Created by engineers from Wolf Tooth Components in 2016 there’s a range of framesets available in steel, carbon and titanium to cover all your adventure needs.

We have a couple of titanium framesets in the pipeline at the moment, this Large Fenrir drop bar adventure bike being the first out of the door. Head over to the bike brand page on our website for all the details of this stunning build headed for some great adventures.

Otso is named after a mythical Finnish bear so if that strength and courage stirs something in you maybe we can work together to build a bike to take you places only few have seen… get in touch!

Next in our series entitled ‘Big and Small, Surly got you All’ is this 64cm (!) Surly Straggler that scooted out over the weekend

Shimano Cues drivetrain and brakes livened up with a few choice upgrades where it matters

Hope Pro5 Hubs laced up nice and tight to some 36h Halo Vapour rims. Nice wheelset for a big rider.

Check those Tumbleweed bars - at 840mm wide and polished up just nice, these are the biz for cruising around town

Brooks B17 honey saddle, Teravail grips and tan wall tyres all bringing it together.

Love it.

Tall or Small, settle for nothing less!

Got a thing on the horizon, not too close but close enough.

Some fit adjustments courtesy of Lee Endres - here’s hoping they’ve got over the surreal experience of tandem fitting.

Apart from that we’re not changing much, since you didn’t ask. We’ve finally decided to retire the Salsa Cycles frame bag as it’s been with us since the Revelate Designs days and we used it to complete the Highland Trail in 2016 so it’s had a good innings and served us well. Around that time we had Porcelain Rocket bag made to measure - never been used so now’s it’s time to step up! It’s a lovely piece of kit. Still using our colour matched Sinewave Cycles Beacon cos it’s ace and the Hope Technology Tech4 V4 brakes continue to do their thing.

We should probably line up those crank arms though 😉

Surly Bridge Club in Extra Small flavour with all the trimmings.

Hope and SON hubs handbuilt onto Halo Vapour 650 rims covered in Schwalbe G-One All Round rubber set up tubeless.

The Hope theme is continued with their fantastically adjustable and dependable Evo brakes and headset.

Some relaxed Nitto bars and those MKS pedals for a winning comfort combo.

All the details on our custom build website pages soon!

With this years edition of the Silk Road Mountain Race currently in full swing , where have you been?, we’re taking the opportunity to look back at some of our favourite snaps from 2018. Temps from -9 all the way to 40 plus and all the weather to go with it.

The current standing is around 60 scratches from the 240 or so that lined up this year and we’re only 4.5 days in. Here’s hoping for kinder weather so the rates get nowhere near the first years 28 finishers out of 95 starts, but what a start line that was.

We can all look back though we’re very much looking forward to the Ta**us Mountain Race in Turkey in only *gulp* 8 weeks time. Looking for some first edition vibes!

Salsa Journeyer is a great start to your gravel and all-road adventures.

No ‘off the shelf’ bikes so it’s frame only to build up yourself or let us build you a banger.

This one with GRX 1x11 and Halo wheels will take you anywhere 😎

Sunday Sideshots

Went North of the Border this weekend dodging showers, finding new trails, hitting the deadends and generally enjoying being away from phones for a bit, looking for hilltop forts and finding tiny frogs.

Found some nice spots.
