BIG Season ahead for The Oak!!

Bad day at the office for the Oak last Sunday but well played Charlestown and good luck in the rest of the cup ⚽️

Not the start the Vets team wanted to the season but a lot of positives to take from the game and things to improve on but a wonder strike from Damo well outside of the box made for a far better second half ⚽️

Great start to the new season for the lads on Sunday morning with a win against a well organised Bay FC ⚽️

Great start the pre-season for the veterans today!

A game that could have gone either way!

Oldham G.P.O took the lead thanks to a penalty claim for handball which the striker slotted away.
Royal Oak struck back with a great pass from Matt M over GPO’s defence which Tro calmly layed back to Matt who curled the back into the back of the net.

1-1 Half Time

Second half commenced and it was 50/50 until a inch perfect ball from Pooley founds it way beyond the GPO back line for Mark Owens to run on to and slot away 2-1 Oak!

GPO we’re putting a lot of pressure on the oak defence until a calm finish from the GPO striker made it 2-2 from the edge of the box.

With 10 minutes to go Oak won a free kick online with the box at the throw in line, Matt M stepped up and curled it top corner at the far post from 35 yards out to give oak the lead once more!

The final whistle eventually went on a great game that either side could have won today! Great defensive performance from the lads today who dug in and ran their socks off!

FC Royal Oak Vets are in action today at Co Op Academy in failsworth, 12pm kick off against Oldham GPO Vets in our first friendly of the coming season ⚽️

Great first game back! Pre season friendly vs Denton Phoenix and the boys dominated the game throughout! Ropey first 5 minutes into the first half cost us a goal but it was oak in control until the final whistle!

Sunday league is back 👀⚽️💙
