When you pull up at the petrol station, youâve got two choicesâstandard fuel or the premium, high-performance option that helps your car run smoother and more efficiently.
Itâs the exact same with food.
Yes, you can eat the right number of calories and lose weightâjust like your car can run on standard fuel. But if you want to feel better, perform better, and have more energy, the quality of your fuel matters.
Letâs say 1500 kcal is your deficit. You can eat 1500 kcal of fast food and lose weight OR 1500 kcal of whole, high-quality foods like lean meats, fruit, veg, and whole grainsâand still lose weight.
The difference? How you feel, perform, and recover.
So yes, staying in a calorie deficit is the priority. But once youâve got that checked off, the next step is upgrading your food choices to fuel your body like a high-performance machine.

A very common mistake I hear all the timeâŠ
â âIâm eating healthy.â
â
Great! So, are you tracking your calories?
â âNo, Iâm just eating healthy.â
Hereâs the truth:
đš You can overeat âhealthyâ food and gain weight.
đš You can under-eat âunhealthyâ food and lose weight.
Not tracking your food is like shooting at a target in the darkâyou might hit it, but chances are, you wonât.
If youâre serious about changing your physique, you need to track everythingâfrom your lifts to your calories. Itâs the only way to truly understand whatâs working and whatâs not.

Imagine there was a pill that gave you more energy, reduced stress, put you in a better mood, and even made you look better when taken consistently⊠Sounds incredible, right?
Well, that pill already existsâitâs called exercise.
Yet, when people say they âdonât have timeâ for it, I canât help but think⊠how can you afford NOT to?
Because the alternative?
â Low energy
â Out of shape
â Low confidence
â Weak immune system
If there was a magic pill that did all this, everyone would take it. The truth is, you just have to show up.

If youâre not losing fat, itâs usually down to one of THESE reasons:
â Underestimating Calories â You think youâre in a deficit, but are you actually tracking properly?
â Not Enough Daily Movement (NEAT) â The gym is only 5-10% of your daily burn. Are you moving enough outside of workouts?
â Too Many Weekend Blowouts â Being on track Mon-Fri means nothing if youâre eating double on Sat-Sun.
â Poor Sleep & High Stress â These impact hunger hormones, cravings, and recovery, making fat loss much harder.
Audit yourself, adjust where needed, and be honest about whatâs holding you back!

**Itâs Februaryâthe time when most people start falling off track.**
Why? Because motivation **fades**, and solid habits **werenât built properly**. That **âshiny new programâ excitement** has worn off⊠and reality kicks in.
Hereâs the truth: **Itâs supposed to be hard.** If it were easy, everyone would do it.
Instead of giving up, try this:
â
**Set small, achievable goals for February** â Aim for **12 gym sessions** this month
â
**Follow your routine, even on low-motivation days** â Just **turn up**
â
**Remember your âwhyâ** â Pain points drive change. Ask yourself: *âHow will I feel this summer if I quit now?â*
Motivation wonât always be there, but discipline will keep you moving forward.

Definitely a good approach for bringing up kids is to
show and not just sayâŠ
Eat well, exercise, get them out - all that good stuff!
Normalise it and youâll do so much good for them in the future!

Iâve been quiet on social media over the holidays, and itâs been a much-needed reset. 2024 was a fantastic year â my 13th in the fitness industry â and brought some incredible milestones:
