Our U7’s (Tigers) were invited to walk out with the F.C United of Manchester women’s team yesterday as they played St Helens at home.

The girls had a full stadium tour and took part in a penalty shoot out at half time with the goalkeeping coach.

They all wore their training kits and new jackets kindly sponsored by Stotts.

Well done girls doing the club proud

U10’s (Panthers) Match Report 🐲⚽️🔰

RKIX (Giants) V Unsworth

After a run of strong results the Panthers came up against a well drilled and technically strong Giants side. We went 2 goals down early but the response from the lads was tremendous.

We started playing and had a number of opportunities but their goalie was in fine form. We conceded a couple more but heads did not drop and Joshua got us a couple of goals back.

We were caught cold at the start and gifted them some goals from mistakes but kept playing and I was really pleased with the attitude.

We will pick ourselves up from this and go again. If we keep showing that spirit we will be okay.

Up the Panthers 💚💛🐆💛💚 ‎

U14’s (Cobras) Match Report 🐲⚽️🔰

Unsworth 2-6 Athletico Middleton

A really bad day at the office for the lads today. We fell well below the standards we have set as a team and, more importantly, the standards the lads themselves have shown in their performances throughout the early part of this season.

From minute one, we simply weren’t competing. We allowed the opposition far too much time and space to do what they wanted, and the opening goal summed up our performance. We had four opportunities to put a challenge in, but instead we stood off and allowed their player to take his shot. Unfortunately, that set the tone for what was to follow, and by half-time we found ourselves 4-0 down.

A very stern conversation was had at half-time. We spoke about playing for pride in the second half and showing a bit of character. We know we’re going to lose games of football along the way, but it’s the manner in which we lose that is frustrating. I will never accept a lack of effort, pulling out of tackles or jogging around the pitch while others are breaking their backs trying to get more out of the team. We win together and lose together, but everyone has to play their part.

The second half was better, and at least we showed some improvement, but there were still plenty of things that I wasn’t happy with. We know what this group is capable of, which makes a performance like today’s even more disappointing.

Goals from Rocco, who I thought had a decent game, and Frankie, who once again emptied the tank and desperately tried to get the team going, gave us something to take from the game. Unfortunately, it just wasn’t to be today.

We face Athletico Middleton again in the cup next week, so there is no better opportunity to put things right. We need a reaction, and more importantly, we need to get back to the standards and attitude that have served us so well this season.

MOTM 🏆 Frankie

Worked his socks off as he always does and never stopped trying to drag the team into the game. Exactly the sort of effort and commitment we need from everyone.

U16’s (Renegades) Manchester County Cup Match Report 🐲⚽️🔰🏆

Jogabola (Yellows) 3-6 Unsworth

The Renegades were in Manchester County Cup 1st round action away to BBDFL Division B opponents so we knew we would be up against decent opposition. Our form hasn’t been great recently so we challenged the lads to go back to what they were doing so well in preseason.

The opposition were physical and quick and we matched them from the off. Our passing and support play was miles better than it had been in recent games and we deservedly came out on top over the 80 mins with solid performances across the pitch capped off with a 2nd MOTM masterclass from Sam.

Really good return to form for the boys and into the next round we go.

U14’s (Eagles) Match Report 🐲⚽️🔰

Unsworth 0-5 Radcliffe FC (Reapers)

Disappointing day at Unsworth Academy. Started slowly and gave the opposition too much respect, much of it related to their size and physicality. We gave the ball away far too much and held back on too many 50:50 challenges.

In the 2nd half the boys realised that they could compete and largely played the better football. We at times have to learn, however, to move the ball a bit quicker and avoid playing too many long balls against players who are much stronger and faster than us. When we have most success, it’s generally when the ball is moved quickly along the ground in midfield.

We’re now at age, where there will often be a mismatch in size and strength. That won’t change for some time and so it’s important that the boys play without fear and alter their game to fit the opposition. We’ve had some disappointing results of late but have shown in those games that we can compete. It’s important now to keep heads up and focus on our strengths.

U7’s (Jaguars) Match Report 🐲⚽️🔰

Unsworth V Collyhurst (Milan)

The jaguars started the game strong and we were on the front foot from the off taking the lead early and from that point the lads never looked back.

The lads carried on battling hard and putting into practise what we had been working on in training they never stopped from the first whistle

The composure infront of goal has improved massivley and with some great finishing and some unreal goals we carried on our winning streak.

Super proud of the jaguars 💚💛🐆

Radcliffe FC (Girls) U11’s V Unsworth

Good run out for the boys this morning and the team put in a composed and professional performance.

When they got the ball on the floor and played their passing game the girls could not live with them.

Well done to Harley and Joshua in goal today. The team really needs a full time keeper so we really appreciate everyone taking turns.

POM Lincoln with 2 goals and great pressing from the front.
BE whole team. Excellent with the ball and kept their composure as the girls got more niggly as the game went on.

With thanks to our sponsors and supporters. The Jaguars go again next week. 💛💚🐆💚💛

U10’s (Devils) Match Report 🐲⚽️🔰

Walshaw (Predators) v Unsworth

The clash we all dread, the inevitable reality check. Same again today?

An aggressive start, fast paced but we matched the Predators for the first 5 mins or so as the boys threw themselves into the game. Most of the action was in our half as the Predators lead the attack but we managed to defend and keep the net from bulging.

The tables turned and Mateo was denied by the bar before goal machine Jenson fired us in front.

Unfortunatley that was the end of our magic as a lack of comms between the boys at the back created a gift for the Predators.

Into half time level

Second half was not an easy watch. Got to admit that the Predators are a class team, intelligent and successful passing, they find space and talk to each other. They have a lot of passion and work very well as a team. Enough of blowing their trumpet...

We struggled through the half but at times looked very lost and despite our hard work, we couldn't get a break. A lot of their aggressive tackling was overlooked by the ref.

They got another 3 goals.

U7’s (Wolves) Match Report 🐲⚽️🔰

Unsworth V Littleborough

After some good results last few weeks, we were moved up a division, and produced a really top performance with all the lads contributing.

We lost to Littleborough 1st game of the season, they have some big lads, but today we matched them physically which was lacking in the previous fixture, played some really nice passing football with some great finishes and composure in front of goal. Fully deserved the win, lads were great 🙌🏾
