Manchester United have reached an agreement over a move to sign Barcelona star Pedro ahead of the new campaign, according to reports from Goal.com.

The 28-year-old is being eyed as a potential replacement to Angel Di Maria, who is on the verge of completing a move to Paris Saint-Germain.

Di Maria struggled to live up to expectations following his record breaking move from Real Madrid last summer as he looks set to leave for a fee around the £45million region.

Pedro failed to hold down a regular role with the La Liga giants last season as he was forced to compete with attacking trio Lionel Messi, Neymar, and Luis Suarez.

United boss Louis van Gaal earlier hinted that he was keen on adding a player like the Spain international into his squad as a deal looks close.

“Barcelona have the speed of Neymar and Messi – and they have Pedro behind them. We have to compete with that,” he said.

“We can win the title if we can buy players with speed and creativity. We have to improve our selection in that way.”

However, Barca boss Luis Enrique is still hoping the winger decides to stay, but will eventually leave the decision up to him.

“Pedro is a high-level player and as a coach I want him to stay here, but is his decision,” he said.

David de Gea has been tipped to complete a move to Real Madrid this summer after remarks made by his pop-star girlfriend Edurne Garcia, Mirror reports.

The 24-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to the Spanish capital ever since the end of the previous campaign.

Real sees the United man as the perfect candidate to replace club legend Iker Casillas who accepted an earlier switch to join Portuguese giants Porto.
Garcia is said to have revealed that the Spain international will be a lot happier once he completes his move to the Bernabeu.

“Now, when he is in Madrid, everything will be much easier.” she is alleged to have said.

It was believed that manager Louis van Gaal was ready to allow a swap deal with the La Liga giants which would see centre-back Sergio Ramos move in the opposite direction.

However, with Ramos now tipped to continue his stay at the club, the Red Devils are standing firm on their decision to see Real table a £35million bid for the services of their number one, a demand they are not willing to meet
