💙 Woodpeckers Player of the Week 💙
This week’s Player of the Week goes to Caiden!
Despite feeling a bit unwell at the start of the week, Caiden still came to training and showed everyone exactly what he’s made of. He put in some excellent tackles, listened brilliantly throughout the session, and worked hard from start to finish.
What really stood out to us was his leadership during the group team drills. Caiden gathered his teammates together, gave them pep talks, and encouraged everyone to keep going. We absolutely love seeing this, as it boosts morale, builds confidence, and brings the team together.
Well done, Caiden! You’re a born leader, and we’re so proud of you. Keep up the fantastic work! 💙👏⚽

Manchester Celtic U15s Magpies vs MFC U15s – Friendly ⚽️
With Vinny missing in defence, we switched to a back four with Lewis and Alex at centre-back, and Fenton and Jack W at full-back.
Peter had a few one-on-one chances with the keeper in the first half and managed to put one away, but MFC equalised before the break to make it 1-1 at half-time.
We made some tactical changes in the second half and they worked really well. For the first 20 minutes after the restart, we looked excellent and played some good football, scoring some quality goals with Peter and Declan both getting on the scoresheet.
We conceded a penalty after a challenge from Lewis, which they converted, and then another late on, but by then we had done enough to put ourselves clear.
Peter even went in goal for a 10-minute cameo at the end, although, to be fair, he didn’t have much to do!
Final Score: Manchester Celtic U15s Magpies 5-3 MFC U15s
⚽️ Goals: Peter x4, Declan x1
⭐ Players of the Match: Alex and Fenton.
Alex was solid at centre-back throughout, while Fenton dug us out on several occasions with some excellent defensive work.
Well done, boys – a really good performance from everyone! 👏⚽️🖤💛

Magpies U8’s Match Update ⚽️
A hard game today for the boys. The other team were excellent at passing and moving into space quickly, which caused us plenty of problems at the back.
The boys really got stuck in and never gave up. We scored three fantastic goals through Vlad and Tristan, and every player worked really hard.
The game ended in an 11-3 defeat, but the boys never stopped defending, attacking, and giving everything they had. I couldn’t have asked for any more from them.
Player of the Match ⭐️ goes to Hamza. I haven’t seen him play for a while, and I was really impressed with his development today. He kept going in for tackles, never stopped working, and listened to instructions brilliantly.
Well done, Hamza – keep it up! 👍⚽️🖤💛
🏆⚽️ Woodpeckers Parents’ Player of the Month – June ⚽️🏆
This month’s award goes to Leo! 👏💙💛
Leo has been a real asset to the team up front, and his development since the start of the season has been massive. He tackles with confidence, moves brilliantly with the ball, and scores some fantastic goals.
One of the biggest improvements we’ve noticed is his ability to look for space and pick out passes to his teammates, which has been amazing to see.
💬 Parents’ comments:
“Really good footwork, knows how to get around players and moves well with the ball.”
“Top goalscorer with lots of confidence.”
It’s clear to see that Leo eats, sleeps and breathes football – he literally never stops, and we absolutely love it! ⚽️🔥
Keep up the hard work, Leo. You’re a little superstar and this award is thoroughly deserved! ⭐️🏆
🪵⚽️ Woodpeckers Match Update ⚽️🪵
Saturday was a tough game as we faced a new team that had moved into our group, and it was a hot one too! ☀️
Caiden made some superstar saves in goal during the first half. In the second half, we struggled a little with switching players in and out of goal, which left us vulnerable in some positions.
The game finished in a 10-2 loss, but there were still plenty of positives. We had a cracking goal from Leo and a brilliant finish from a kick-in by Kian. 👏⚽️
Most importantly, the team never stopped fighting, kept battling right until the final whistle, and were all still smiling at the end. That’s what it’s all about! 💙💛
As usual, we’re incredibly proud coaches. 😍

Morning everyone,
Due to the extreme heat and very high UV levels, we’ve decided to cancel tonight’s training sessions for all of the teams.
With some of the teams having matches this weekend, we want to make sure everyone stays safe and avoids overheating.
Enjoy your evening, stay cool, and we’ll see you all tomorrow. ☀️⚽
Thanks,
Coaches

🍀 Happy Father's Day 🍀
Today we want to wish a very Happy Father's Day to all the dads, grandads, stepdads, father figures and coaches who support our players both on and off the pitch.
We'd also like to recognise the amazing mums and family members who take on both parental roles, making sacrifices every week to help their children enjoy the game they love. Your dedication never goes unnoticed.
Thank you for the early morning lifts, standing in the rain, cheering from the sidelines, helping with fundraising, washing muddy kits, and being there every step of the journey.
Grassroots football simply wouldn't be possible without the incredible support of our families.
We hope you all have a fantastic day and know how much you're appreciated by everyone at Manchester Celtic FC.
