Over 14th-15th June, the Army BMX Team were competing at round 7&8 of the National BMX Series at a sunny Gosport, Hampshire.

Tom put in a solid performance, making the A-final on both with a 3rd and 4th on Saturday and Sunday respectively. George just missed out on the A-final in the Masters on Saturday, but on day 2 made the top 8, finishing in 6th - his best result of the year. Nel finished 19th both days in a competitive 19-29 year olds category, with the 30+ mixed in.

Tom, Nel and George were in Manchester last weekend for rounds 5&6 of the National BMX series, each putting in some solid performances.

Tom and Nel reached the A-Final on both days in the 40-44 Cruiser and Female 30+ classes, respectively (Nel competing in her first national series race!). Tom took 8th on day one before reaching the podium on day two with a 3rd place, while Nel placed 8th both days.

George reached the A-Final on day one in the Masters 30+ category, though was at the receiving end of a move on the second turn, which put him back to 8th, where he finished!

We’ve been very off the grid recently but we are coming back strong!. The season had a standstill because of the world championships (which none of us attended).

Unfortunately we were all busy over this last national weeken but a massive well done to all the new national number 1’s!.

We are now in the stage of preparing for the British Championship’s In Bournemouth so we’ll see you there!

Really solid day yesterday from both of the Army boys!, both riding really well and Lt Col Swales (PWRR) being mixed up with the 40+ cruisers, made for a big age group with semi finals! After some brilliant riding Swales made it into the semi’s and got the unlucky number 5 over the finish line, then coming in a respectable 2nd place in his B-final!.

Fus Spelling (1RRF) had a really good run with a 4th and two 2nd’s in the motos which moved him onto the semi finals, after a lucky pull down the first straight he slotted into 4th and held that position all the way to the end to qualify for the A-Final! With last pick and gate 8, Spelling managed to get 6th in the final after making a move down the second straight.

Really good effort from both the lads and now it’s onto Scotland nation this weekend!

Great to have some inter-services rivalry at round 4 of the held . Both Army riders were fast on their home track. Matt Swales held off the other two services for 2nd place in the 30+ Cruisers. Reece Spelling was rapid all day to take 3rd in the highly competitive 17-29 class. Tom Odling is out of action with broken ribs ☹️.

Bring on round 5 in two weeks time!
