Evening all,

This is a huge SOS call out to everyone.

Due to a number of dropouts in the last 48 hours and currently having trouble finding last minute replacements, XL Club North West are currently don’t have a full team for our 2-day fixture tomorrow and Friday at Llandudno Cricket Club.

Is anybody available over the next two days and fancy a game of cricket at a beautiful cricket ground in North Wales?

This is exceptional news for both XL Club and England 40+ Cricket!

If there are any 40+ Year Olds in Cheshire, Cumbria or Lancashire that would like to take part in any of our 15 remaining fixtures this season then Message us or send an email to [email protected]

The Forty Club

📣 Keeping the Spirit of Cricket alive for players 40+.
England Over 40s Cricket and The Forty Club are pleased to confirm an informal association designed to create more opportunities for adult cricketers – typically 40+ – who still have the appetite to play good‑standard cricket and, for some, to push on towards international over‑40s representation.

The Forty Club is an open‑age wandering club (no strict 40+ age rule) with a strong fixture list and a clear commitment to the Spirit of Cricket. Many players are 35 and upwards, which makes it a natural environment for those who are already over 40 and those approaching 40 who want to progress their cricket.

Under our new understanding:
- Players aged 40+ (and those approaching 40) who want more quality cricket are encouraged to consider joining The Forty Club as individual members on their normal terms.
- They will play as ordinary Forty Club players, enjoying the club’s national fixture programme.
- Forty Club regional managers will keep a light, informal awareness of England‑qualified players (and those nearing 40) who consistently stand out for performance, fitness and attitude, and may quietly recommend them to England Over 40s for future trial or development opportunities.

This is not a formal pathway or a guarantee of selection. Both organisations remain fully independent, and England Over 40s selection will always be based on performances across a range of environments (club, county veterans, XL and others).

We’re back in action today at Fylde Cricket Club taking on Nomadic Kings XI in the first match of our .

The Forty Club NW side includes 8 debutants and 10 changes from the team that beat Ellesmere college last Friday.

Good Luck to Captain Luke Sumner and the team! 💪🏏

A great win to start the season on the road at Ellesmere College.

Mohammed Hassan and XL NW Captain Luke Sumner led a steady rebuild after a fast-moving start to the game, before the lower order chipped in to help us reach a seemingly slightly below average 163 runs to defend.

Skipper Sumner brought himself on to slow down Ellesmere's pacey chase, and removed 2 of the top order, before return later to dismiss the other open who scored a very good half-century.

Ellesmere fought back and dug in with a rebuild of their own, before the experience of Simon Marsh and Aaron Offer came into the attack late and took 3 and 4 wickets each, forcing a collapse of 7-22.

The superb late bowling which turn the game swung the momentum back into XL NW's favour, and eventually securing a 15-Run victory.

We'd like to thank Ellesmere Collage for their warm hospitality, and we look forward to hopefully returning for another competitive fixture next year.
