IMPORTANT - PARKING - again!
Last week, we spoke at the event about parking, and we're going to highlight this a lot going forwards.
Stretford is a busy event, but is a suburban parkrun with local streets and residents. We're getting weekly feedback now about inconsiderate parking on the local roads - this has been escalated to local councillors and if we don't see parkrunners behaving responsibly, we could see the event put at risk - so this is important.
The main car park holds 110 cars at absolute most, the 2 small car parks 5 - 10. There isn't enough space for everyone to park. What's happening is runners parking across resident’s driveways and across roads as per this picture, making pulling out of roads exceptionally dangerous. It has to stop.
If you live locally, please walk, jog or cycle to the park. If you live on a tram line, please take the tram to Stretford, Chorlton or Firswood - all are a 5-10 minute jog to the start line - the perfect warm up.
If you have to drive and the car parks are full, please don't park on the surrounding roads! You will need to park in the car park at Turn Moss Lane (5 minutes away), or Stretford high street car park (10 minutes).
We're being asked to provide marshalls for parking, but we already struggle to fill the existing rota each week - so we need parkrunners to behave responsibly, even if you've arrived late. There is a pinned post with all transport options - please take a look so that Stretford parkrun can continue to go ahead.
Just to note - this car is a random car on a random street. It isn't in Stretford, it's just to illustrate a point.
Thank you.
