Once A Blue Man City is absolutely thrilled to announce the inaugural Ken Barnes & Peter Barnes crown green bowling trophy, in association with the Manchester City Official Supporters Club.
This unique event will take place at Houldsworth Working Men’s Club in Reddish on Saturday 30th May (10am) and aims to bring supporters and former players together to enjoy one of England’s most traditional and inclusive pastimes.
Ken Barnes was such a pivotal figure in the history of Manchester City and made a huge difference to the careers of many Once a Blue members.
His son Peter is a legend himself, as a City winger, England international and current matchday ambassador, so this event will honour him, too.
Barnes Senior and Junior used to play crown green bowls together, and found it was a great way to keep active and stay connected.
Said Peter: “I’m delighted that Once A Blue and the OSC are launching the inaugural Ken Barnes & Peter Barnes crown green bowling trophy.
“My father was a well-loved City player and scout but not everyone knows that he was also a big bowls fan. This will be a fitting way for supporters to pay tribute to Dad, as well as getting former players together from City, United and County.”
Once A Blue aims to connect, support and celebrate former Manchester City professionals. It is also partnering with two local charities – Together Dementia Support and Prostate Cancer Support as part of its Once A Blue: Tackling Brain Health and Once A Blue: Taking on Cancer initiatives.
Tickets are priced at £20 per person. To enter, please email [email protected]
