To celebrate the new timetable at start of new Dragons, Future Champions Kickboxing and Shotokan Karate sparring Champions we're really delighted to be able to unveil our new junior kickboxing and karate training kit.

These come in different sizes and colours especially for our Junior members gloves start at 6oz- 10oz and the shin instep start at extra, extra extra small and go all the way up to extra extra large!!! For the first batch of these we've got some pink sets as a certain Sensei Miss Olivia Stroughton has made it clear we have a contingent of excellent young female students in those classes now- but we can also order in Yu Mac club colors of black and white etc.

We've always maintained a commitment to offering highest standards, facilities, instructors etc but we've also been aware that for our Junior members cowhide high end quality gloves and instep are simply a bit too expensive. So we've finally been able to source different, less expensive material and we're happy to be able to offer theses bundled sets at £70.00

Here's tonights September info drop!

New timetable starting from 21st September 2026

Three new junior members classes, including an additional Karate Dragons Class on Mondays with Sensei Cameron Wheatley another Future Champions Kickboxing class on Thursday evenings and a Brand new Future Karate champions class.

The Future Karate champions class will be concentrating on Kumite and point sparring and will be taught by Miss Olivia Stroughton and assistant Black belt instructors and managed by Sensei Paul Cook.

We're changing a few things too! If you're in one program, either Karate or Kickboxing and you want to get some additional sparring training then you can pay a pay as you go fee of £7.50 to jump in an additional class and get extra sparring!

September is proving to be a REALLY busy time at Yu Martial Arts Collective and I'm a bit worried about overwhelming people but it's kickboxing grading time so here we go!!!

27th September 2026 is Yu Mac kickboxing grading day.

The first group starts at 10.00 am so members will need to be in the corridor for 09.45 am before being brought into Dojo 2 to warm up. The session will be managed by Miss Olivia Stroughton and Sensei Cameron Wheatley with Sensei John Holloway attending. This session will be for junior students grading up to green belt.

The second session will start at 11.30 and students will need to be in the corridor outside the dojo for 11.15 am when they will be taken into Dojo 2 to warm up.

This session will be managed by Sensei John Holloway with assistance from Miss Olivia and Sensei Cameron and will be for more senior grades and any adult students of any grade.

The deadline for applying to be able to grade is fast approaching so please complete your application form ASAP.

We've got a LOT happening in September but just for a change, let's start with the parents!!!

It's September, you'll have noticed it's going to get chilly. That means the viewing window for Dojo 2 isn't going to be that comfortable. We're constantly pushing the buildings owners to allow us to sort out the corridor, make it warmer and a bit nicer.

But in the meantime, why not be somewhere warmer, and work on your own fitness whilst watching the students work out on the wide screen TV? at Yu Martial Arts Collective

Small team from Yu Martial Arts Collective attended IMAC event in York today. It's a compact venue for an event that we've supported over last 3 years.

For us it's an opportunity to have a focused spotlight on the Forms squad and on this occasion an opportunity for Henry from the fight squad to compete in a relatively pressure free environment supporting by his coach Miss Olivia Stroughton .

She and head of Shotokan Karate program Sensei Paul Cook took that team gave them the opportunity to express their hard work and they all performed amazingly well. Spoke to both instructors via messenger and they couldn't be happier with the performance level.

It's the first event in this season, but it's an amazing platform to build on. Congratulations to all the Yu Mac squad members, couldn't be happier or prouder of you all 🙏🏽

As always as we approach the latest grading cycle Yu Martial Arts Collective I'm here to provide a bit of detailed information on how the day is organised with timings etc.

On the 20th September our Yu Mac Dragons students will be on first, thier session will start at 10.00 am abd we ask that all students and parents are in the corridor waiting for the session to start by 09.45 am. The grading will be managed by Sensei Cameron Wheatley and will last approximately 45 mins.

The next cohort of students will start thier grading at 11.15 am, you will need to be outside the dojo by 11.00 am. Assistant instructors will then take you into Dojo 2 to warm up. Parents and spectators can then come in and be seated. Please ensure that noise is kept to a minimum to allow students to concentrate. This cohort will be students going for orange, red, yellow and green belts. This session will be managed by Sensei Paul Cook.

The final group of the day will be students going for thier purple and above belts and that session will start at 12.30 pm. Students will need to be in the corridor outside the dojo for 12.15 pm, assistant instructors will then es**rt you into dojo 2 to allow you to warm up. As with other grading sessions, could all parents/spectators please keep noise to a minimum. This grading session will be between 1 - 1.5 hours depending on the belt you are grading for.

Please remember to complete your grading form ASAP so that we can be sure we have the correct number of belts.
