A tough start to the season for our u13 Blues started with an away trip to a well organised and strong Cotgrave FC.

The girls started a little slow as we shuffled the team to accommodate injuries and knocks and Cotgrave took advantage in the early part of the game and raced into a 2-0 lead. The girls grew into the game and started to play some great football. Maisie made a dazzling run from deep in our half before slotting to ball home to reduce the scoreline. We were unlucky not to go in at half time with more from the game.
In the second half the girls continued to play some great and created chances and competed. Then a sucker punch and a worldie of a goal completely knocked the stuffing out of us. More shuffling due to injuries and tiredness but the girls never stopped and we pushed Cotgrave all the way but Cotgrave were clinical in front of goal and took their goals brilliantly.

It was always going to be a tough start for the girls but we know they will never stop and keep giving there all throughout the season no matter what.

There was great commitment from the whole team in what was a real game of two halves. Some players were making their debuts, while others spent most of the match playing out of position. A big thank you and well done to all of them.
A few of the squad were also carrying knocks and injuries, which became more apparent in the second half. We lost our way a little towards the end against a strong, hard-working opposition. That’s something we can easily put right in training.

Our U12s welcomed Meden Vale colts girls to Debdale for our opening game of the new season.
A great game of football with many chances at both ends but unfortunately for us it was Meden who took advantage of there's early on making it difficult for us to pull the game back.
Creating numerous great chances but unfortunately the one goal from Lauren just wasn't enough.
A great performance despite the score line.

First game of the season for our u13’s black away against Priory Celtic.

Not the start we anticipated against a good defensive minded Priory Celtic. First 10 or 20 minutes it was an even contest with both teams creating chances. After a number of good blocks from both defenders and keeper the ball bobbled over the line to give them the lead and a chance strike saw them go in at half time 2 up.

Second half we made a few good chances but couldn’t find the net. Priory picked us off a few more times to increase their lead. A good performance despite the score line.

We welcomed Connie into our team and she slotted right in like she’d been with us for seasons.
Well done girls, a positive start to our campaign.

Sherwood Colliery FC Ladies came away with an impressive 3–2 victory over a strong Basford United side in their first game of the season at Debdale Sports Park.

The opening 10 minutes were a little rocky for Sherwood, with Basford starting strongly and heading home sharply in the first five minutes. Sherwood were under pressure after falling behind, but they soon found their rhythm and began to grow into the game, showing good composure and determination to take control. A well-taken corner from Pav dipped into the back of the net to make it 1–1 at the break.

The second half saw Sherwood really step up, with a goal coming shortly after the restart. Pav turned quickly and played a ball in behind the Basford defence, allowing Hayley Brown to race through and strike low into the bottom corner to put the hosts 2–1 up.

Both teams continued to battle hard and play some excellent football. Midway through the half, Basford found the equaliser, rounding the Sherwood keeper and finishing into an empty net.
Basford continued to push, but Sherwood worked hard to stem the attacks.

With full time approaching, a strong tackle on the halfway line by Holly saw her surge to the edge of the Basford penalty area before putting the ball on a plate for Hayley Brown, who found the bottom corner once again to secure the victory.

A fantastic performance from the team, who fought back from an early setback and went again when under heavy pressure from a very good Basford side.

Beeston Fc ladies vs Sherwood colliery ladies blue

Today’s opening match of the season saw our ladies away at Beeston, for the blues first outing together in division 3.

Both teams came out of the blocks and set the pace of the game early on. Some great passages of play from both sides made for an entertaining first half, albeit a 0-0 score line for the team’s efforts.

With the sun behind the travelling side, the ladies started to press and try and find a way to unlock the Beeston defence. A quality pass found Isla in space and on the half volley, chipped the keeper from just outside the 18 yard box 0-1 SC.

The home side seeking a way back into the game, started to play some quality balls in behind our defence and was rewarded with two quick fire goals to make the score 2-1.

Sherwood then started to pile the pressure on the home side, working really hard and trying to find a way back into the fixture.
Isla’s perseverance was rewarded, as after pressing the defence, a deflected shot ended up in the home net.
Level again.

Massive shoutout to all of our ladies today. The effort shown from the whole squad was amazing and for our first 90 minutes together, it was truly inspiring.

Our first game of the season took us away to Gedling Southbank Warriors, and it was a very evenly matched game from start to finish.

Gedling were very quick to play through our press, making it difficult for us to build the game we wanted. We still created a few good chances, but just couldn’t find the finish.

Gedling had their opportunities too, but our goalkeeper was ready when called upon and made some important saves to keep us level.

The game finished 0–0
