Join us on the 26th of September for the annual Sovereign Quarter Horses open day!

Our Open Day is your chance to get behind the scenes at Sovereign Quarter Horses, meet the horses and see what life at a working Western horse breeding ranch is really like.

Across the day, you’ll be able to watch the training of the young Western horse, along with Ranch Riding, Ranch Trail and Reining demonstrations in the arena.

We’ll also be showcasing some of our mares and foals, introducing you to horses currently available for sale, and of course, Socks the Line Dancing Horse will be making an appearance for a special demonstration.

And because it wouldn’t be Sovereign without a bit of country… there’ll be line dancing too.

Come hungry, because we’ve got a brilliant food line up with food trucks :

Carly’s Pizza – a familiar face from Rockin’ The Country, our Country Music Nights and Summer Stomp.

Smokey and the Spaceship – back after joining us for Line Dancing Socials, Heart of the Fens Show, Country Music Nights and Summer Stomp.

Get Wrapped – returning after previous Open Days and Country Music Nights.

KC’s Diner – joining us at the Ranch for the first time.

Ray’s Ice Cream – our local ice cream van and another familiar face from events here at Sovereign.

There’ll also be a licensed bar and Western shop, with plenty more happening throughout the day.

Your tickets might be free, but we’re certainly not holding back on the day.

We can’t wait to welcome you to Sovereign Quarter Horses.

See you at the Ranch 🤠

Wow … what a weekend!

The team here at Sovereign Quarter Horses are filled to the brim with gratitude for everyone who visited the farm for Rockin’ The Country, and for all those who stopped to watch the horsemanship events across the weekend.

Opening up our home and sharing what we do here at Sovereign is a huge part of Rockin’ The Country. From the horses and riders who stepped into the arenas, to the demonstrations, competitions and displays throughout the day, we loved seeing so many people lining the fences and getting behind every single one of them.

A huge thank you has to go to everyone who brought their horses, their skills and their time to be part of this year’s programme. There is a lot that goes on behind the scenes to bring those performances into the arena, and we’re incredibly grateful to every person who helped make it happen.

And to everyone who came through the gates, whether you’ve been part of the Sovereign family for years or this weekend was your first ever visit to the ranch, thank you.

The farm feels a little quieter today … but what a weekend we’ve had.

Rockin’ The Country 2026, you were something else. 🤠

The farm is about to get a different kind of busy…

It’s always busy here at Sovereign, but with Rockin’ The Country just days away, things are definitely starting to shift up a gear.

So before the festival prep really takes over, we’re taking a moment to appreciate some of the quieter things that happen here too… like this stunning location shoot on the ranch 📸🤠

660 acres, big skies, horses and plenty of corners that make a pretty incredible backdrop.

And while it might look calm from here, there’s a LOT starting to happen behind the scenes.

Keep an eye on our Stories over the next few days. You might just get a little look at the ranch turning into Rockin’ The Country 👀

Still time to secure a place for 2026 on one of our Western Experience Days …

7th Dec 2026 - 3 Places

14th Dec 2026 - 3 Places

Our Western Experience days are a fantastic way to introduce yourself to western riding or even to improve your existing skills!

You will start with breakfast in our onsite café where you will meet the team, followed by a ridden demonstration from our riders.

You will then ride for around an hour before untacking and having lunch, which is provided in our café. After lunch, we teach you how to lasso before having another riding session. We then finish the day with tea/coffee and cake.

There will be three UKCC qualified instructors teaching you, David and Sarah Deptford and Olivia Lochhead. The riding sessions will run from 10am until 4pm, covering the basics of western riding and dependent on riding experience and progression during the sessions, some other western manoeuvres will be covered.

To secure your place, please visit our website.

M E E T S A R A H ✨ Sarah is an accomplished horsewoman in her own right, having grown up showing ponies to County Show level and working for Davina Whiteman. Having converted to western riding when she met David and qualifying as a UKCC Level 2 coach in 2010, Sarah has a wealth of knowledge to help not only existing western riders but also those who are looking to convert from English riding to Western.

Trail is one of Sarah’s favourite disciplines to teach the horse and rider and she has competed very successfully in the class among others.

Using her first class presentation skills which she developed working with show ponies, Sarah has always been the power behind the turnout and success of the young stock David has shown in Halter. Her talents are not only limited to show preparation, Sarah is an extremely successful trainer and an accomplished all around competitor too, in many disciplines. She showed in Amateur classes for many years before becoming an open rider when she started her teaching and training career.

Sarah has a love of Trail and Ranch Riding, showing both her own and her clients’ horses in these classes. She has also shown very successfully in reining with her mare Chex Out This Action before taking her to the European Championships in 2018, qualifying for the finals of the Senior Ranch Riding Class. This was a fantastic achievement for them as Chexy was the oldest horse in the class at 18 and showed that she’s still got it and that Quarter Horses really do last a lifetime!

If you come for lessons here you may be lucky enough to ride Sarah’s other extremely talented show horse, Snippers Della Reed (Della) who became an AQHA Champion in 2018.
