A fantastic run from Ben Ashdown at the Hose 10 LRRL race yesterday, completing the 10-mile course in an impressive 1:08:38, averaging a strong 6:51 min/mile pace πŸƒπŸ»

While we’re predominately a triathlon club, we’re proud to have members who have their own individual sporting goals and choose to focus on the discipline they enjoy most. For Ben, that’s running. His dedication to the sport and consistent training are clearly demonstrated in this incredible result. A sub-7-minute-mile pace over 10 miles is no easy achievement, and Ben should be really pleased with his performance, as we all are! πŸ‘

What a day for Jess Rigg at the Great North Run πŸƒπŸΌβ€β™€οΈβ˜€οΈ

Running it for the 5th time, Jess took on the iconic course under beautiful sunny skies and crossed the finish line in an impressive 2:23:05!

She loved every minute of it, soaking up the atmosphere and enjoying the experience once again. Although, by the time she reached the finish, her feet were definitely letting her know they’d had enough!

Well done! πŸ‘

Another great running speed session tonight led by our very own Run Coach (and videographer) Sadie! πŸƒπŸ»β€β™€οΈ

The session consisted of progressive hill sprints, building distance with every effort from the first cone through to the fifth. Runners pushed harder and further with each rep before resetting and going again β€” 30 minutes of relentless uphill work!

Superb effort from everyone tonight! Well done πŸ‘ πŸ”₯

A huge congratulations to Pete Wi******er on completing the Helvellyn Triathlon today! πŸŠπŸ»πŸš΄πŸ»πŸƒπŸ»

One of the toughest and most beautiful races in the UK, starting with a 1-mile open-water swim in Ullswater, followed by a gruelling 38-mile bike ride through the Lake District, including the infamous Struggle up Kirkstone Pass, before finishing with a 9-mile fell run taking in Helvellyn β€” it’s certainly not for the faint-hearted! And the best bit? He absolutely loved it!

The weather definitely added to the challenge. The bike was tough in some pretty awful conditions, and things got even more challenging (if not a little scary) at the top of Helvellyn! Thankfully, the weather cleared on the way back down, giving him a much better finish to an already epic day!

What an incredible challenge and an absolutely brilliant achievement. Well done Pete! πŸ‘

While travelling to Baku, Azerbaijan, to support her dad Mike at the Ironman 70.3, Gracie-Rose Walters discovered at the last minute that the event weekend also included a 5K fun run β€” so she decided to enter!

With temperatures soaring during the day, the race took place under the Baku night sky, creating a brilliant and unique atmosphere πŸŒ™πŸƒπŸ»β€β™€οΈ

Having only recently returned from an ankle injury, Gracie wasn’t sure how she would feel and hadn’t specifically trained for the 5K. The plan was simply to take part, run comfortably and see how her ankle held up, with no particular expectations. But once she stepped onto the start line, the competitive spirit kicked in!

With another runner pushing the pace, Gracie decided to give it a proper go β€” and it paid off. She crossed the finish line in an impressive 20:50, securing 2nd place female!πŸ₯ˆπŸ‘πŸ»

Considering she had only entered the race at the last minute, was still returning from injury and hadn’t trained specifically for the event, the result was a fantastic surprise. Even better, her ankle held up well and she was delighted with both how she felt and how she performed!

What started as a spontaneous last-minute decision while travelling turned into an unexpected podium finish under the Baku night sky β€” and a very encouraging sign as Gracie continues her return to full race fitness πŸ’ͺ🏻

A huge congratulations to Mike Walter on completing the Alufar Ironman 70.3 Baku yesterday πŸ‘

Having heard all about his race experience, it sounds like it was one hell of a day!

The swim was an interesting start, with Mike somehow finding himself in a group who had clearly decided that personal space doesn’t exist in open water swimming! 1.9km of swimming practically on top of each other β€” what more could you ask for?!

Then came the bike, and this was where Mike really came into his own! After the rather chaotic start in the swim, the bike course sounded like the perfect way to make up for it. Fast, fun and right up Mike’s street!

Then came the real challenge - the run! πŸ”₯ 30Β°C heat and a few challenging months dealing with injuries and health issues had made training far from straightforward. But despite everything his body had thrown at him in the build-up, Mike dug deep, battled through the heat and fatigue, and kept putting one foot in front of the other until he crossed that finish line! πŸ’ͺ

What makes this achievement even more impressive is that just a few months ago, Mike wasn’t even sure he would be racing. To go from that uncertainty to standing on the start line, taking on the swim, bike and run, and crossing that finish line is something he should be incredibly proud of!

And what a race to do it at β€” the first time Ironman has come to Baku, with an amazing atmosphere and incredible support throughout the event. πŸ‡¦πŸ‡Ώ

And let’s be honest… despite saying it was hard, we all know you’ll absolutely be stupid enough to do it again! 🀣
