Starting next Wednesday, Pilates classes are now a fixture on our timetable, after the successful launch today by The Elysian Life.

A huge thank you to everyone who came along to my complimentary Pilates classes at the Community Sports Centre today.

And can I just say… WOW! 🥰

I’m absolutely thrilled to see that some of you have already booked onto next week’s classes. That genuinely makes me so happy!

I love teaching Pilates, and there is nothing better than seeing people come into a class, have a go, discover what their bodies can do and hopefully get as much out of the session as I do. I really hope you enjoyed it as much as I enjoyed teaching you!

I’m really excited about bringing these classes to the centre and building them into something lovely. 💚

A little note about bookings going forward…

Today’s classes were complimentary, but they were still limited-capacity classes and every space was reserved for a person who had booked.

This morning, several people either cancelled very late or didn’t turn up at all without letting me know.

I completely understand that things happen. Plans change, people get ill and sometimes you simply can’t make it. That’s life! But if you can’t attend, please let me know as soon as you can.

I gave up three hours of my working day today and paid for the venue so that I could offer these free sessions. I also had people enquiring about the classes who would have loved the opportunity to come along.

So although today’s classes were free, your booking still mattered.

When you book a place and don’t attend, that place can’t be offered to somebody else — and that’s particularly important when spaces are limited.

So please treat your booking with the same consideration you would if you’d paid for it.

If you’ve booked a place, please come along. And if you can’t make it, just let me know. No drama, no judgement — it simply gives someone else the opportunity to take your place.

Thank you again to everyone who came today, gave it a go and supported me. And an extra thank you to those of you who have already booked for next week.

Saturday 11 April 2026 saw a New Sport Launched at Drayton Community Sports Club

Drayton Community Sports Club has successfully hosted a Pétanque Open Day, introducing the popular French game—often known as boules—to the local community.

The event followed an approach from the University of the Third Age (U3A), who were keen to see Pétanque established in Market Drayton. In response, the club has invested in a purpose-built playing area, large enough to accommodate three competition pistes or four club pistes.

The Open Day welcomed players of all ages and abilities, many trying the sport for the first time in a relaxed and friendly environment.

Expert coaching was provided by national Pétanque coach Clive Noke, who is pictured delivering guidance during the session.

Also present at the event were local councillors Tom Dainty, David Minnery and Jeremy Blandford, demonstrating strong local support for the initiative.

Membership of the new Pétanque section will be just £4 per year, reinforcing the club’s commitment to accessible, low-cost sport for the whole community.

Paul Virgo, Chairman, said:
“Our mission is simple — more people active, more often.
Pétanque is a perfect example of that: it’s inclusive, social, and something people can pick up very quickly. We’re delighted to bring it to Market Drayton and to see such a strong turnout for the first session.”

The introduction of Pétanque adds to the growing range of sports available at the club, further strengthening its role as a hub for community activity and wellbeing.
