Don’t get us wrong, technique is important, but it doesn’t have to be perfect and it’s definitely not the only important thing.
Your technique must be good enough for 2 things:
1- Good enough to prevent injury
2- Good enough to target the muscles the exercise is targeting
If you’re ticking both of those boxes, then it’s time to start focusing on training hard and consistently with a plan to progress your weights.
This doesn’t mean forget about technique, it’s still very important, but it does mean that it doesn’t have to be absolutely perfect. Hard, consistent and progressive training with good technique will get more results than soft, inconsistent training with perfect technique.
You can train with the best technique in the world but if you’re not pushing yourself to increase the weights, or you’re not training consistently, then you will sell yourself short.
If you’re struggling to progress your training, our team of PTs are here to help!
