A bit of rain couldn’t spoil a great Ashley Baker Gala Day, with all three of our teams putting in excellent performances. Richard, Steve and Stella were drawn in the Red Group. Bob, Chris and Linda, with Keith, Mick and Liz were drawn in the Blue Group.

A steady day’s bowling earned Richard, Steve and Stella fourth place in the Red Group.

In the Blue Group a superb start saw a 24‑shot win over Milton Hill for Bob, Chris and Linda. A tight second game slipped away 7–6 against Harwell after a last‑bowl steal, but they bounced back strongly after the lunch break. A confident win over Kingston Bagpuize set up the final showdown with Shrivenham. Their Skip, Stuart, has never beaten us and his record remained unchanged as the team delivered an emphatic 19–3 win. The team finished with 3 wins from 4 and an impressive +62 shot difference, placing third in the Blue Group.

Four straight wins saw Keith, Mick and Liz top of the Blue Group and into the gala final — where they faced Shrivenham, winners of the Red Group. In a brilliant performance, the team won the final, securing the gala title and ending the season on a high!

A fantastic team effort across the board — flying the flag for the club and closing the season with real style. Well done everyone 🏆🥳

After a long, hot summer, Club Finals Weekend brought the 2026 season to a close, with two days of competitive but friendly bowls played across the greens. The atmosphere was great, with plenty of support around the rinks as every match was keenly contested.

Aldbourne members were out in force on Thursday evening supporting the Steve Goddard Memorial Race Night, held courtesy of Aldbourne Carnival. The team sponsored a race — The Bowler’s Derby — and bought all the horses in it, with Pete Swann’s horse, George, taking the win.

The penultimate race saw the horses auctioned to raise funds for the Wiltshire Air Ambulance in memory of Steve, who served as Chairman of the Carnival for many years. The auction brought in just over £400, and we were delighted that Steve Wilson’s horse came out on top, earning him the winner’s trophy, presented by Lauren Goddard.

What an afternoon at the annual Ramsbury v Aldbourne club match!

It was nip and tuck across the rinks, with some big scores, a few tighter games and lots of great bowling throughout. After a thrilling contest, the overall score ended in a draw!

That means the trophy stays with Ramsbury, who won it last year 🏆

Well done to everyone who took part and helped make it such an enjoyable afternoon 😎

A lovely afternoon at Marlborough Bowls Club for their inaugural charity American Tournament in support of Prospect Hospice. Great to play alongside teams from Hungerford and Pewsey, as well as the two home sides.

Thanks to Tash and Luke for organising such an enjoyable event, and to everyone who contributed so generously through the raffle and match fees raising just over £400.

The B Team have strengthened their position at the top of Division 3, confirming their qualification for the finals on 14 September. They will compete in a round‑robin format against the winners of the other divisions to determine the overall 2026 champions.

The A Team delivered an outstanding result with a record 55:18 victory - the biggest winning margin ever recorded in the Club’s history - lifting them into a strong third place as the season builds towards its finale.
