Our Professional Energy Services MOTM today goes to Shay Karavadra

Playing a unfamiliar position at CB, Shay was an absolute beast today.

Winning every ball that came over the top, you would've thought CB was his natural position, with how cool and calm Shay was.

The defence today was solid throughout, but that right side of Ibby and Shay, who were were playing together for the first at the back, was impenetrable.

Well done Shay....Massive performance πŸ‘

MSR Start 2026/2027 Campaign With A Win

The 2026/2027 season kicked off today, as MSR headed to Shefford, to take on Shefford Albion.

Having lost to these in Pre-Season, it was our chance to get redemption.

MSR starting with the following XI:

GK - A.Uddin

LB - R.Milton
CB - C.Mensah
CB - S.Karavadra
RB - I.Miah

CDM - J.Nelson
CM - B.Winton (C)
CM - D.Green

LW - C.M.Best
ST - J.Smith
RW - H.Nadeem

First half was very sluggish from both sides. Chances were limited, too many balls given away and neither keeper tested.

MSR then got a chance to take the lead. J.Nelson getting brought down in the area, saw a penalty awarded. J.Smith stepping up, saw the keeper pull off a great save down to his right.

Moments later, Josh went down in the area, no penalty given and a blatant stomp on Josh's hand, going unpunished. Player was big enough to stamp on him, but didnt like it when he overheard a comment saying they do it, we do it back.

Halftime

J.Nelson (Off)
J.Riley (On)

H.Nadeem (Off)
J.Platt (On)

Five minutes after the restart, MSR were ahead. J.Riley picking up the ball, put a lovely ball to J.Smiths feet. One touch to turn, then one to lob it over the keeper, Josh starting the season the way he ended last. Lovely goal to give MSR 0-1 lead.

Three minutes later, D.Green doing well with the ball, saw him get into the area and get brought down.

J.Riley stepped up this time, and smashed the ball home. MSR 0-2

J.Smith (Off)
K.Alexander (On)

R.Milton (Off)
G.Dennis (On)

Chances fell more often for MSR. K.Alexander getting into some good positions, failed with the end product.

D.Green calling the GK into action, with a lovely shot outside the area, being pushed away.

B.Winton (Off)
J.Nelson (On)

C.M.Best (Off)
H.Nadeem (On)

With Five minutes to go, our clean sheet was lost. A long ball, bounced over J.Platt and C.Mensah backed away, giving Shefford too much space, in which the player hit an unstoppable effort into the top bins. 1-2

Last kick of the game, Shefford were awarded a corner. The ball came in and saw a Shefford head leap highest. Luckily, the header went over the bar.

Fulltime

A hard fought Three points. Were we at our best? Far from it. Did we dig deep and pull out Three points? We sure did.

Delighted to announce Haseeb Hanif as our latest addition to the club.

Haseeb will be a massive addition to our Reserve side (and will also feature for our Firsts) as he brings a wealth of experience. A solid FB who also possess great leadership qualities.

Welcome to the MSR Family Haseeb ❀️

Unfortunately our opponents tomorrow are unable to field a team. Not the news we were expecting to hear, but is unfortunately a situation that is becoming a more regular occurrence in grass root football.

We hope this is just a one off and Cople can get their numbers up for the season. A good bunch of lads over there.

As disappointing as the news is, this does mean our Reserves start the season with a win and 3 points.....Not the way we wanted to get the points πŸ˜”

This morning we were made aware of the sad news that Phillip James has passed away.

Phil became a regular face last season within the club, following and supporting the lads both home and away.

Whether it was him watching on the sidelines, having a input in team talks, taking photos or running the line, Phill was a character.

We will never forget the game vs Priory Park, where Phill disagreed with the referee, which saw him somewhat lose his head πŸ˜‚

Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends and loved ones at this hard time.

Rest In Peace Phill

MSR doing some late business in the transfer market, as we are delighted to welcome Three new signings.

First up is Josh Nelson. An absolute unit, you wouldn't want him barging in to you (would end up in a different postcode). Josh is another versatile player, who can play ST, CM, CDM and although he hates it, puts in an absolute shift at CB. Goals and assists already in pre season for the lad πŸ‘

Next up is Kane Alexander. An experienced player, who knows the game. Another lad you wouldnt want to defend against. Kane can play ST and CAM. We have also seen assists and goals from Kane in pre season aswell.

Finally we welcome Dan Green to MSR. A player the gaffa knew with his time at Elstow, Dan was part of the Elstow squad who annihilated the Prem and won the Cup.

An experienced player, who brings a massive vocal advantage to the squad. Dan can play CM, LW and CAM and just like the lads above, Dan has been an instant hit, with assists and two filthy goals in pre season.

Welcome to MSR lads

This Sunday, both sides Kickoff their 2026/2027 campaigns in the BDSFL.

Our firsts face an away trip to Shefford, where they take on Shefford Albion. With the lads in a good run of form, they look for revenge having lost to Shefford in Pre Season.

Bets already being put on at the bookies for how many times they will raise the flag again.

Our Reserves kickoff with a home fixture against Cople Sports in their very first ever league match.

Lets hope Cople Firsts have a game πŸ™

A final Pre-Season game for our Reserves, ended in defeat.

MSR setting up with the following starting XI:

GK - L.Massa

RB - C.King
CB - J.Banghard
CB - C.Patrickson
LB - C.Harrison

CDM - J.Dobson
CM - Y.Chauhan
CM - R.Massa

LW - K.Chirayil
ST - R.Bowtell
RW - L.Marshall

A game in which MSR dominated for the first 45 minutes, we just couldn't find the break through, which saw MADAS go 1-0 up.

Two clear penalties were waved away for MSR.

Halftime

On the 50th minute, MSR got back into the game. L.Marshall assisting R.Bowtell, just as he done last week. 1-1

We then had to make changes and give new players the chance to see what they can bring to the squad. This unbalanced the squad, which saw MADAS grab Three more goals.

Frustrating, as were the better team for huge parts of the match, and if the penalties were awarded, and Kevin not flagged offside for every dangerous attack, the game would've been different

MOTM today goes to Lorenzo Massa. His first appearance for MSR in goal, he pulled off some great saves.

MSR end Pre-Season with a Win

Our last Pre-Season game, saw us travel to Sports Central in Milton Keynes, as we took on MK Community FC.

MSR with a small thirteen man squad, due to our BFG Joe Doyle not turning up 🀦

MSR back to our usual formation, saw the starting XI look like this:

GK - K.Young

LB -R.Milton
CB - O.Kopanski
CB - C.Mensah
RB - G.Dennis

CDM - J.Riley
CM - D.Green
CM - B.Winton (C)

LW - C.M.Best
ST - J.Nelson
RW - H.Nadeem

MK Community had a lot of the ball in the first Ten minutes, which saw MSR having to be patient.

A poor pass saw MK Community intercept the ball and in the 12th minute, go 1-0 up.

In the 12th minute, MSR were level. Literally 30 seconds later, J.Riley levelled the scores. H.Nadeem passing the ball to Jordan, saw an absolute screamer from 25 yards out from Jordan. 1-1

MK Community still keeping a lot of the ball, but when MSR attacked, boy did every attack look dangerous.

MK Community in the 29th minute went 2-1 up, but yet again, the MSR lads showed real character and mentality as they equalised in the 30th minute.

J.Nelson doing well inside the area, passes to C.M.Best who taps home from close range. 2-2

Seven minutes later on the 37th minute, MSR took the lead. J.Nelson put a lovely through ball that split the defence. H.Nadeem running on to the ball, finished off well, as he grabbed his 4th goal in 4 games. 2-3

Halftime

H.Nadeem (Off)
K.Alexander (On)

A minute into the second half (46th minute) MK Community equalised. 3-3

Just like the first half, the lads didn't let this affect them, and once again grabbed another goal two minutes later (48th minute).

Kane passing the ball to D.Green, saw a filthy finish come from the boot of Dan. On the edge of the area, he opened his body and curled the ball into the far corner. 3-4

Five minutes later (53rd minute) MSR grabbed a fifth, and gave themselves a Two goal lead.

D.Green doing superbly down the left, got into the box and passed it across the face of goal, where J.Nelson tapped it home. 3-5

D.Green involved again, Seven minutes later (60th minute). A carbon copy of our Fifth goal. Dan gets in to the box, and passes back to K.Alexander, who taps home our Sixth. 3-6

MK Community grab a Fourth before the fulltime whistle.4-6

Some superb football on display from the MSR lads, who have ended Pre-Season with Four impressive performances, picking up Four wins from Four.

MOTM could've gone to a number of the lads. Dan Green with Two assists and a goal and Josh Nelson with Two assists and a goal, both with massive performances.

But your Professional Energy Services MOTM goes to FB R.Milton πŸ‘

Unbelievable work rate from Ross today. A constant threat with his overlapping/underlapping today. Getting up the pitch, then getting back to do his defensive duties, is hard work, but he put in an absolute shift.

His link up play with Dan Green down our left, was beautiful to watch and caused MK Community so many problems. Well done Rossy
