We are a mens Saturday football club, open to players aged 16 and over. Currently, we compete in Division 1A of the Cambridgeshire County League.

Our home pitch, The Moor, is located in Melbourn and has modern changing room facilities with roll-on box goals and dugout. We train midweek on the 4G pitches at the village college. Our unofficial clubhouse is based at The Black Horse pub in the village where post-match food is provided. 🎯 𝗟𝗔𝗦𝗧 𝗠𝗔𝗡 𝗦𝗧𝗔𝗡𝗗𝗜𝗡𝗚 - 𝗪𝗘𝗘𝗞 𝟮

Week 2 is complete, and another eight players have fallen by the wayside.

Six players took advantage of the buy-back following Week 1, taking the prize fund up to an excellent £200 and leaving 30 players competing over the weekend.

The Week 2 casualties were:
❌ 4 out after Liverpool's draw with Newcastle
❌ 1 each was eliminated after Leeds, Everton, Coventry and Spurs all failed to win

That leaves 22 players still standing heading into Week 3.

For anyone eliminated this week, this is your final opportunity to buy back in. 𝗟𝗲𝘁 𝘂𝘀 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝗶𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂'𝗱 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗶𝘁 𝗯𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗴𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗪𝗲𝗲𝗸 𝟯 𝗸𝗶𝗰𝗸𝘀 𝗼𝗳𝗳.

⚽ 𝟭𝟯 𝗴𝗼𝗮𝗹𝘀. 𝗔 𝗳𝗮𝗶𝗿 𝗯𝗶𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻. 𝗢𝗻𝗲 𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗴𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗮𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗼𝗼𝗻.

We finally got our Firsts and Vets together for our first interclub game on Saturday.

Melbourn 8-5 Melbourn Vets

Jops x2, Chay x2, El x2, Ali and Geo got the goals for the Firsts, while Lloris scored four and Ryan added one for the Vets.

It was exactly what we'd hoped for: a good run-out, a bit of competition and a chance for the two squads to properly get together before the season starts.

The Veo was running too, so we've got some footage from the afternoon which we'll share soon 🎥

And now there's not long to wait... The competitive season starts this weekend.

⚽ TODAY AT THE MOOR

Firsts and Vets are mixing it up this afternoon for our pre-season interclub game.

We'll be picking the two teams out of the hat before kick-off, so absolutely no idea who's going to end up playing with who! 😂

After the game, we'll have some drinks out of the club lock-up for anyone who wants one, then it's down to The Black Horse from 4pm where they're putting on a BBQ.

There'll hopefully be a bit of killer pool, darts and the usual nonsense too.

👋🏼 Right, the admin is back from eating gyros and enjoying the Greek sunshine!

And it turns out quite a lot has happened while I was away!

Pre-season is moving on, the Vets are getting ready for their first competitive season, and we're now just a couple of weeks away from the real thing.

But first... Saturday is CLUB DAY.

We're bringing the Firsts and Vets together at The Moor for our first interclub game, with the two teams mixed up and playing against each other.

Our first pre-season friendly ended in a 5-3 win over Guilden Morden on Saturday, but it certainly wasn't straightforward.

3-1 down at half time, the lads turned it around in the second half to come away with the win.

Great to have a few people down at The Moor watching, and even better to see everyone back at The Black Horse afterwards.
