Wiltshire Youth Canoe Club AGM

Dear All,

Each year WYCC holds an Annual General Meeting (AGM). This year the AGM is to be held at 12 noon on the 15th March 2025 at the club house.

This meeting is a good time to look back over the past year, and to look forward to the next.

The AGM is also where the Committee is elected for the next 12 months. All positions on the committee will be reelected, and if you would like to stand for election please pass your name onto me or another member of the committee before the AGM.

At the AGM we will also be approving a new constitution for WYCC. The constitution states that the committee must have the following positions:

Chairperson,

Welfare Officer,

Secretary,

Treasurer,

However, these roles are the minimum required, and the current committee has the following positions:

Chairperson,

Vice Chairperson,

Welfare Officer,

Welfare Officer (2nd)

Secretary,

Treasurer,

Membership Secretary,

Safety and Equipment Officer,

Coaching coordinator,

We would also like to add individuals with the following responsibilities:

Press/Social Media,

Youth Representative

We will be making an appearance at the Melksham food and river festival at the end of the month. Come and see our demos on both days of the festival.

We will be running an introduction to paddlesport course over three sessions

Monday 12th, Wednesday 14th and Friday 16th August 6-7pm
£15 for the course (Includes all sessions)

Aimed at beginners to gain some knowledge of both kayaking and stand up paddle boarding.
Ages 8-18 welcome

What a great story and recognition of the positive impact paddlesports have, in particular here for young people & why inclusion, opportunities are so important within our communities. Something which has been shown at our own club and within our own community - access, inclusion and FUN! For all ages, it helps increase activity, benefitting physical & mental health and social interaction.
Great to see how much this young person and family value the club support, opportunity and support it has provided, just like our own club in Melksham & beyond

Boy to paddleboard down River Wye for Stourbridge kids club Len wants to raise money for a club that has supported him since he was diagnosed as autistic.

Great to see club in the local newspaper

Wiltshire Youth Canoe Clun (WYCC) is a Sports Club based in centre of Melksham. Being alongside to River Avon the club is focused on paddlesports, with a volunteer committee and team of volunteer qualified instructors/coaches & leaders who facilitate club sessions, events & trips.

As the club continues to grow, then more volunteers are required so each year the club looks to bring in more volunteers and help develop volunteers.

Perhaps you have some time or skills to offer or are keen to develop some new skills which can be used to support the club & sessions that the club offers. So it could be giving a few hours to help support admin at an event, regularly or occasionally, it all helps. Alternatively getting out on the water to help introduce others to paddlesport.
Or do you know someone who might be interested.
Volunteers support everything we do at the club. We would like to hear from you.
