Excellent News about Isobel, our young pistol shooter, from her father on a competition success last weekend.

I have some great news about Isobel! Yesterday, she competed in the British Schools East of England qualifier and won! Her section had a strong field of 58 competitors. Additionally, a youth pistol shooting team was formed with some of her contacts from across England, whom she has shot with before. They also won their youth category, securing a spot in the national finals as well!

Recent improvements have been carried out in the 25 yard range to box in the cables for the existing Electronic targets ready for the installation of the new Meyton in lane 5 in the next few weeks. Thanks to Sean Bett for the work.

Louise, and Penelope who joined Holwell recently from another club, have both spent the weekend training at Aldersley with Ginny Thrasher on one of her popular training camps she has been delivering worldwide for 10m Air Rifle.
An excellent weekend was had with lots learnt, adjusted, practised and drilled by all four participants in a relaxed and fun training environment. This is well worth doing by anyone who gets the chance in the future. Hopefully Ginny will return to the UK next year to do some more training camps.

Newly (re)formed Loughborough university rifle club now have 11 members shooting with us who have completed the beginner course, although some have previous shooting experience. They continue to grow with another course planned shortly and the first competitions already entered.
A lot of effort has been put in by both Holwell Committee members and a huge effort by the newly formed Loughborough Uni rifle club committee to get this off the ground. It’s amazing to see the new club members now shooting with us and we wish you all good shooting and look forward to a productive and successful great future shooting together.

Following the recent announcement from Holwell Sports and Social Club, known locally as The Stute, that they have entered into insolvency, Holwell Rifle Club Ltd would like to make it known that we are in no way connected to the Holwell Sports and Social club.
Holwell Rifle Club Ltd are a NSRA affiliated independent Sports club, and CASC, offering various Target shooting disciplines to its members. Holwell Rifle Club Ltd remains active and fully functioning and always welcomes new members as we continue to invest in the future of our sport.

The West Midlands Open will take place at NSRA Aldersley on 14th - 15th September 2024 featuring:
10m Air Pistol
10m Air Rifle
10m Sporter Air Rifle
10m Under 13 (two handed) Air Pistol

Team GB 🇬🇧 have won Gold today at the ISSF world championships being held in Cairo shooting the 10m Air Rifle mixed doubles. Seonaid Macintosh and Dean Bale beat the Indian team, who have been dominating the sport in recent years, to secure the Gold medal 🥇 with a nailbiting final shot winning match point.
Dean has recently spent time training with other Team GB athletes at Holwell Rifle club, making use of our up to date facilities in the run up to the world championships and was training in Melton only last weekend before departing to Egypt.
Well done to the team and good luck in the remaining competitions.
