Ready for the next step?
For many of our students, the focus is now on testing - putting their training into practice and showing they're ready for the next stage.
For others, the focus is on preparing for the next testing after that. And that's absolutely fine.
At Mildenhall Martial Arts, testing isn't simply about how long you've been wearing your current belt. We look at readiness, how much of the syllabus the student knows, whether they've attended enough training, their attitude to learning, and how they're progressing overall.
We don't believe everyone should automatically test every three months simply because three months have passed.
Testing isn't just a date on the calendar. It's a reflection of readiness.
Our focus isn't on getting students through testing as quickly as possible. It's on making sure that when they do step forward, they are genuinely ready for that next stage.
Sometimes that means testing. Sometimes it means a little more time, practice and confidence.
Progress isn't about rushing to the next belt. It's about being ready when you get there!

A new player (or two!) has entered the game!
We were delighted to welcome some more of our black belts to last night’s monthly Black Belt Archery Tournament - and they certainly added to the competition!
There was, however, a new name at the top of the leaderboard this time…after coming so close to JKN Dipak on plenty of occasions, KSN Martin finally did it!
A well-earned first place and a new champion in the building. The question now is, can he do it again next month?
Of course, no tournament is complete without a refuel! 's brilliant local wood-fired pizzas finished the night off perfectly.
Great competition, plenty of laughs, new competition, and a new champion. What more could you ask for?

Throwback Thursday!
Master and Apprentice
A throwback to around 2012 at the old Dome in
Mildenhall.
Master Steve Isaacson and (now) Master Shaun, both in
their Generals, during a grading.
Years pass, students grow, and the roles
evolve... but the lessons, respect, and traditions
remain the same
From apprentice to master - and now passing
that knowledge on to the next generation.

Learning to listen. Learning to focus.
Martial arts isn't just about learning kicks and punches. For our youngest students, so much of training is about listening, watching, remembering.
Putting instructions into practice.
One step at a time, they learn to focus their attention, control their movements and build confidence in what they're doing.
Research suggests that structured martial arts training can support attention, working memory, and self-regulation in children too.
Sometimes, those little moments of concentration are where the biggest progress starts.
