September so far at DG. šŸ‚

Yes, with the dramatic music! Painted the studio! This was all done in one weekend!
Fueled by espresso and a 47 hour long 80s/90s Goth playlist. One biker vet nurse and a beautiful German Shepherd.
Behold! šŸ¦‡šŸŒ¹šŸ•

Probably the most relaxed shoot I have ever had was with Poppy Niamh

Even set up and take down was stress free and mostly chats about dogs. Perfect.
Anyway, here's some pectorals.

Poppy Niamh at DG Spring 26.
I just love the symmetry of this.

Signs that Summer is nearing it's end. DG Polers can be found in the wild, cavorting in their seasonal pyjamas...but still with great lines and perfect pointe'.
If you see one in the wild, you can feed them freeze dried strawberries in chocolate from Aldi (apparently), but keep a safe distance as they're strong enough to throw you.

Jade is our Member of the Month:

Fave music to pole to and favourite music for the car?

Favourite pole music has to be 90’s grunge, or Sleep Token. Car music is entirely dependent on the weather, but currently there’s a lot of Toto and Journey on the playlist.

Describe your job as poorly as you can?

I take people’s money and give them poison in pretty glasses.

Favourite pole move?

Too many! Stargazer, Knee Swing, Genie, Shooting Star, just to name a few. If there’s a back bend and I’m ripping the skin from the back of my knee, I’m in.

Least favourite pole move?

Shoulder mount. ā€˜Nuff said.

Best bit of general advice or favourite saying?

ā€œIt can’t rain all the timeā€.

My advice to people, cliche as it may be, is that even on the darkest days we can find glimmers of light and hope. In the people we love, in the places we feel safe, in the birdsong and the colours of the sunset. There is always beauty if you look for it.

Best thing about DG?

DG has been my sanctuary for 8 years. I’ve dipped in and out, but the studio has always called me home. Being a member, being taught by Jamie has shown me so much about self love, confidence, pride, and so much more. I’d have to write a novel to cover it all. But I think the best thing is having a place to be totally myself, and free.

Advice for anyone who has signed up for a 4 week intro at DG?

Most important advice I can give is to not set yourself any expectations. I hear so much ā€œI’m not strong enough, not tall enough, not thin enoughā€ when I speak to people about pole. You have a body, that is enough. The rest will come, let yourself fall in love with the art and don’t look at what anyone else is doing (except your instructor, obviously!)

Embrace the fact life will never be the same for you after this. You’re about to experience true magic, primal, feral, feminine power. And you’re going to love every second of it.

For Jamilla Deville. Pole OG and Pioneer. One of the original Pole Superstars.

Even though these days we have super cool comps and many shows and tutorials on everything everywhere we're spoilt.
I feel more lucky to have been there to witness the start of the magic.
The feeling we all had when we saw the trailer for Art of Pole.
That MPDUK the year where pretty much everyone did a Jade because we all loved it so much.

Hard to explain to the new Pole gen how meaningful these events were to what was then such a small international community.
With Jamilla as one of the leaders of it all.
BRB, got something in my eye...
