Every new environment is an opportunity for learning.

New smells.
New sounds.
New distractions.
New experiences.

For some dogs, that's exciting.

For others, it can feel overwhelming.

Helping your dog adjust successfully isn't about how quickly they adapt—it's about creating positive experiences that help them feel safe, confident, and capable.

Because confidence isn't something dogs are born with.

It's something they build through experience.

👇 Where would you like your dog to feel more confident?

One of the hardest things for dog guardians to watch is their dog struggling when left alone.

The barking, pacing, destruction, and stress are often symptoms of a dog that doesn't yet feel comfortable being by themselves.

Separation anxiety isn't solved through punishment or simply leaving a dog to ""cry it out.""

It starts with understanding why your dog is struggling and building their confidence at a pace they can cope with.

Because confident dogs don't just happen—they're created through training and support.

Has your dog ever struggled being left alone? 👇

💥 BANG!

One of the most entertaining tricks you can teach your dog isn't just fun to show off—it's a great way to improve focus, communication, and your dog's ability to follow more advanced cues.

Teaching "play dead" encourages your dog to think, problem-solve, and engage with training in a positive way.

The key is breaking the behaviour down into small, achievable steps and rewarding progress along the way.

Remember, training doesn't always have to be about solving problems. Sometimes it's about having fun together and strengthening your bond.

🐾 Can your dog play dead?

😎 Yes, they've mastered it
😂 They roll over and get confused
🤔 We're still working on it
🐕 We haven't taught it yet

Your dog isn't the only one being trained on a walk.

Lead handling plays a huge role in how your dog responds to the world around them.

Without realising it, many owners create tension through the lead, send mixed signals, or accidentally encourage pulling and frustration.

Small changes in how you hold, manage, and use the lead can make a huge difference to your dog's focus, confidence, and overall walking experience.

Because sometimes the problem isn't the dog...

It's what the lead is communicating.

🐾 What's your biggest challenge when walking your dog?

"Come!"

Your dog hears it...

Looks at you...

Then carries on doing whatever they were doing.

Sound familiar?

Building a reliable recall takes more than hoping your dog will listen when it matters most.

It takes practice, consistency, and teaching your dog that coming back is always the best option available.

Because recall isn't tested in your garden.

It's tested when distractions appear.

How reliable is your dog's recall out of 10? 👇

One of the most important lessons a dog can learn:

Just because you want to chase something...

Doesn't mean you should.

Teaching dogs how to remain calm around bikes and runners isn't just about improving behaviour—it's about keeping everyone safe.

A dog that can ignore temptation is a dog that can enjoy more freedom, more adventures, and a more relaxed life with their owner.

Training starts long before the distraction arrives.

That's where the real progress is made. 🐾

Calmness isn't something your dog automatically knows—it’s a skill that needs to be taught and practised.

Many owners focus on commands like sit, down, and stay, but often overlook one of the most important behaviours of all: the ability to switch off and relax.

The more your dog learns to be calm in different environments, around distractions, and during everyday life, the easier everything else becomes—from walks and training to visitors and social situations.

Remember, a well-trained dog isn't always the one doing the most. Often, it's the one that can do nothing at all.

👇 Where does your dog struggle to stay calm the most?

🏡 At home
🚶 On walks
🐕 Around other dogs
👋 Around visitors

Is your dog dragging you down the street instead of walking with you?

One of the biggest mistakes dog owners make when lead training is continuing to walk while their dog is pulling. Every step forward can accidentally reward the behaviour and teach your dog that pulling works.

Remember, loose lead walking isn't about controlling your dog—it's about teaching them that staying connected to you is rewarding.

👇 What's your biggest challenge when walking your dog?

🐕 Pulling towards other dogs?
🐿️ Chasing wildlife?
👃 Constant sniffing?
🚶 Pulling towards people?

Let us know in the comments and we'll share our top tip for your specific challenge!

⚠️ IMPORTANT DEFRA UPDATE FOR EXEMPTED DOG OWNERS ⚠️

DEFRA has announced changes affecting owners of exempted banned breed-type dogs.

Key changes include:

📅 Third-party public liability insurance will remain a legal requirement until 30th June 2026. From 1st July 2026, this requirement will be removed.

👨‍👩‍👧 From 1st November 2026, owners must not leave a child under 12 years old in close proximity to an exempted banned breed-type dog without adult supervision in a home or private setting.

🐾 All other Certificate of Exemption conditions remain unchanged, including requirements relating to muzzling, leads in public, and secure management at home.

While this legislation applies specifically to exempted dogs, we believe supervision of young children around all dogs is an important part of responsible ownership.

We’re sharing this update to help keep owners informed. Please refer to official DEFRA communications for full guidance and legal requirements.
