If you’re getting knee pain during squats it may not mean you have to cut them out completely. Try changing your technique like this.
- Initiate the movement from your hips instead of your knees. This means sticking your bum out.
- As you do this shift all of your weight onto the outside of your heels while pushing your knees outwards.
- Aim to go to 90 degrees at your knees or slightly below.
- Push back up by imagining you are pushing the ground away from you.
- Drive your hips forwards, knees back and squeeze your glutes (butt) at the top of the movement.
- Repeat steps 1 - 5 until you are dizzy.
