🎉🤸‍♀️🎉Honestly, it was such a thrill (and a bit of a surprise🤣) to take flight into Firefly Pose (Tittibhasana) for the first time ever last week🎉🤸‍♀️🎉 i’m sharing it with you here today to highlight just how much Yoga can be used for that perfect balance of strength and flexibility. Obviously, this is not a beginners pose and it’s not something we will be tackling together in our classes! So don’t panic anyone😂🙏❤️
It’s also still very much a work in progress for me, as I crash land out of it every single time currently😂🤣😂 it was my recent Portugal Yoga holiday and one of my amazing one-to-one students, that inspired me to work towards some more challenging postures within my own practice…… so big thanks to both for the motivation✨🙏✨❤️
I look forward to continuing developing strength and mobility with all of you in our classes this week and please don’t forget that it’s all about enjoying the journey and it really doesn’t matter if we never arrive at some of these tricky end poses.

Just 90-120mins of strength training will increase your lifespan and our weekly 75min Yoga classes count towards that total🎉💪🎉 …..🙏Yoga is strength training using body weight , but without compromising on mobility 🙏

🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍🌈Happy June🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️ It’s fantastic to be back at yoga with you all feeling so refreshed and relaxed after a week in Corfu during our half term break🥰
We stayed in tiny Lissipio on the outskirts of Paliokastritsa, where our little apartment had this stunning view of the mountains from the balcony where I practised Yoga every morning and enjoyed a breakfast of Greek yoghurt with whole nuts and fresh red cherries for breakfast every day. We were just a five minute walk down a steep track through the lush vegetation to a cliff top taverna from where we could weave our way down the 80/100 stone steps, through very quiet, uncrowded garden terraces (perfect for chilling on the sun loungers with a fresh fruit smoothie or two🍹😋) which eventually came out at the most incredible swimming steps into the sea.. I absolutely love swimming in the sea, so it was ideal. A real hidden gem!
We used the local buses to explore other beaches along the beautiful, rugged coastline and spent a day wondering around Corfu Town, with it’s narrow alleyways, harbour/beach area and Fortress (although my favourite site that day - and the only photo we took in the town! - was this amazing, ancient tree, with those incredible roots, in one of the town parks. I can never resist a good tree hugging opportunity! 🤩🤣🌳💚).
Another highlight was the adrenaline buzz of bouncing across the waves in a speedboat for a short/40 minutes excursion to see the incredible geology of the Paliokastritsa cliffs, coves and caves and Hearing the local myths and legends around the area from our Skipper🌊🐠🐬💙
Finally, being able to enjoy a diet of fresh Greek food for a week alongside all that morning yoga, walking, swimming and fresh air, relaxing with my book and doing crosswords it really was the most fabulous nourishing break….. and I do realise how lucky I am to have this time in Greece with Mr Sarah’s Yoga so close to my trip to Portugal (which just me and my two oldest offspring enjoyed together my amazing surprise Christmas present from them!🥰….. and for that trip poor old Mr Sarah‘s Yoga and our youngest stayed at home to take On our dog sitting duties and make the Portugal Yoga break possible!❤️🙏❤️ ).
Anyway, I thought I would share a little sunshine with you all and maybe it will provide you with some holiday inspiration or remind you of some happy memories of your own🤩🤗💛 ……and whether at home or abroad I hope you have some nice plans for over the summer.

🌞🙏Inspiration for creating your own budget friendly yoga holiday🙏🌞
Following my last post describing and sharing photos from our DIY yoga holiday in Portugal, a few of my yoga classmembers have asked for more info on the beach yoga we enjoyed so much and organised independently in the beautiful town of Lagos in its stunning location. Paulo is a fantastic yoga teacher, offering a range of classes for all levels of ability including Hatha Yoga, Rocket Yoga and Paddleboarding/SUP Yoga, together with mindful guided local hikes and even slack-lining to really challenge your balance!🤣🙏💛

This 5 day yoga trip to Portugal with my adult offspring was the most beautiful, thoughtful and actually quite overwhelming surprise they could have planned, booked and gifted me last Christmas 🥰
We had so much fun, joining a local Yoga class on the beach in Lagos for two early morning yoga sessions at this incredible sheltered spot below the cliffs. It was idyllic to have these views and the sounds of the sea from our yoga mats while enjoying a wonderfully sequenced “Hatha Flow + Glow” practice. Plus being able to be just a few steps away from a refreshing dip in the sea afterwards was an amazing way to start the day.🙏🌊🐠🌞💛
We also spent an incredible day driving into The Monchique hills , where we found gorgeous villages, hidden natural springs in lush, bio diverse for est area (where you can see me obviously practising Tree Pose in one of the photos🤣) and we managed to scramble to the top of Mount Foia (the highest peak in the Algarve) where, as you can see, I indulged in a moment of Peaceful Mountain🤣🙏🤩
Having a hire car also meant we could explore other colourful, traditional coastal villages (my favourite being Burgau,with its picture postcard perfect tiny, vibrantly tiled + painted houses cobbled narrow streets and gorgeous white sand Cove - which I can imagine would be packed with people in peak season, but we pretty much had to ourselves and after playing in the sea and chilling on the sand we had fantastic late afternoon cocktails at the beachfront bar
🍹🤗💛) and travelling further west to experience more rugged, expansive beaches popular with surfers………
All in all, it was a fantastic trip, filled with laughter, exploring in nature, enjoying great fresh food, a few cheeky cocktails, lots of yoga and spending time together making very precious memories🥰🌞🙏❤️
Home now and still on a high from such a fabulous little holiday and very much looking forward to seeing you all again in our Yoga classes together this week # # #

🎉🥰 Fantastic to receive this beautiful photo and this inspiring, positive birth story from one of our lovely Pregnancy Yoga classmembers over the bank holiday weekend🥰🎉 How utterly adorable is this little one! It makes me so happy getting news like this and knowing how beneficial our Yoga together is even for an unexpected Caesarian. Reading stories like this one, where things don’t go completely according to plan, are such a great boost to confidence for other expectant parents. I’m so grateful to our class member for sharing her birth story and this image with us all🤗🙏❤️
She wrote: “…….it’s good to share birth stories with positive outcomes and genuinely, whilst all the chaos was going on from his monitoring before the c-section, right through to having the spinal block, breathing and relaxing got me through! Even my husband …….. was doing it with me!
I’ve also loved the course over the last few months, having time for myself and baby, felt like quality bonding time! I’ve been thinking of carrying on with your yoga once I’m back and recovered so will reach out soon!”
🥰 I’m sure you will all join me in sending congratulations🥰…… and obviously she will be very welcome to join us in our Hatha Yoga For All classes once life with a new addition to the family is a bit more settled!🤗❤️ Many people try Yoga for the first time during Pregnancy and continue for life, once they’ve experienced all the benefits!🤩🙏❤️

🌻💛 Wishing you a wonderful long weekend💛🌻
Today is Beltane …..when we step into summer🌞🤸🌞 In terms of the ancient wheel of the year this festival celebrates the first day of summer and is exactly midway between the spring equinox and the summer solstice. It’s certainly been a beautiful day and so I really hope you’ve had a chance to enjoy a little of today’s sunshine. You may notice an energetic shift….. are you noticing the need to slow down and take time to breathe in order not to burn out? Or maybe you harness the fire energy and rise like a phoenix to spread your wings a little further? As I always remind you in our yoga classes together “ You are the expert on you” and “When you take the time to listen to your body and breath, it will tell you exactly what you need”.
Whatever changes you may be drawn towards as we step into summer and whatever you’re up to this Maybank holiday weekend, I am sending you all love, health and happiness🌞💛🌻🙏🌻💛🌞

Weather it’s your first, second or third time attending one of these fantastic workshops, you will leave feeling amazing and motivated to maintain your strength and mobility/flexibility through the summer……..and for life! We will have fun, safely using handweights and body weight to improve whole body strength, with Arlette (from Arlette‘s Fitness on FB). you’ll love learning to use weights if its your first time at one of our workshops,. Plus, if you’ve joined us before you will love adding to your repertoire with new moves. And everyone (new or not) will love the energy and positivity that comes from having fun, working out as part of a fantastic, friendly group of like-minded people🥰 After a short break, with time for a chat and the treat of delicious fresh fruit, we will enjoy Yoga together, to calm the nervous system and gently stretch and release all the muscles that will have been working for you (carefully curated and let by me🥰).
It really is a fantastic way to start a Sunday and help nourish you to move with ease and confidence through the summer and beyond.

📣NEW🌻Tuesday Morning Hatha Yoga For All🌻
Would you like to join us at a Tuesday morning yoga class at Portfields Community Centre, Newport Pagnell (9.30–10.4 5 am)? Extra classes are being held on Tuesday, May 5 and Tuesday, May 26 so that my Monday morning yogis don’t miss out on their weekly yoga fix when there are no classes on the two bank holiday Mondays in May.
Unsurprisingly, not everyone can switch mornings those weeks and so it’s a great opportunity for others to try the class (either as a one Off or with a view to me starting a regular Tuesday morning session if enough people would like one…. also, it’s a way to trial the classes before committing to one of my regular daytime or evening classes in Newport Pagnell).
Price: £12 to trial one Tuesday morning class or £20 to come along to both.
