Team stayed calm and collected* as vice captain Andy and skipper/wicketkeeper Josh combined in flawless chaos to bowl out the final batter with just 3 runs needed. Heart rates through the roof, captainโs wallet now lighter, but somehowโฆ we escaped with the win. ๐ป๐
*Not even remotely calm.

๐ Teamsheets Are In! ๐
The selections are made and we're ready for another weekend of New Bradwell cricket!
A huge thank you to this week's match ball sponsors, Bryan and Lisa Bardell from NBSPFC. It's fantastic to see support from across the wider New Bradwell Sports Association family - one club, many volunteers, and plenty of sport. โค๏ธ๐๐
Saturday sees the 1st XI head back to Podington looking to improve on last week's batting exploits, while the 2nd XI host Olney Town at Bradwell Rd and will be hoping their scorecard contains more runs than bar receipts this time around.
Sunday brings another home fixture for the 2nd XI against Olde England, giving the lads a second chance this weekend to impress spectators, teammates, and any family members preparing brutally honest post-match reviews.
Good luck to everyone pulling on the maroon and gold this weekend. Here's hoping for sunshine, plenty of runs and wickets, and a much happier Sunday round-up!

๐ Weekend Fixtures | Sponsored by Bryan & Lisa Bardell โฝ๐ป
This week's cricket is proudly sponsored by Bryan and Lisa Bardell, two fantastic club people from the football side of the family at NBSPFC. It's always great to see support coming from across the wider New Bradwell Sports Association community - proving that regardless of whether you prefer footballs or cricket balls, we're all united by a love of sport, volunteering, and discussing the weather far more than is healthy.
After last week's mixed bag of rain, near-misses and children ruthlessly exposing their fathers in public, we're back for another weekend of cricket and cautiously optimistic predictions.
๐ Saturday
๐ก 2nd XI vs Olney Town CC (Home)
The 2nd XI welcome Olney Town to Bradwell Road, hoping to spend more time on the cricket pitch than they did at the clubhouse bar last week. Availability looks good, spirits are high, and players have promised their partners they'll actually be playing cricket this weekend.
๐ 1st XI vs Podington CC (Away)
The 1st XI make the return trip to Podington, where their season began back in April. The lads will be looking to improve on last week's batting display, with the ambitious target of having at least one player reach 20.
โ๏ธ Sunday
๐ก 2nd XI vs Olde England CC (Home)
The only fixture of the day sees the 2nd XI back at home against Olde England. Fresh from fielding three father-and-son combinations last weekend, there remains a genuine risk that half the side will be receiving coaching advice from relatives somewhere on the boundary.
๐ฆ๏ธ Weather Forecast
Current forecasts suggest actual sunshine may be available this weekend. Club meteorologists remain sceptical, having been hurt before.
๐ฃ Good luck to all those pulling on a New Bradwell shirt this weekend, and a huge thank you once again to Bryan and Lisa Bardell for their support.
Here's hoping for fewer rain interruptions, more runs, more wickets, and absolutely no children delivering brutally honest post-match assessments of the captaincy.

๐Weekend Round-Up | Sponsored by Ian Leask ๐บ๐ณโฝ
First things first, a huge thank you to our match ball sponsor Ian Leask. An Arsenal fan who's finally discovering what winning feels like, a skittles enthusiast, and a man who enjoys the occasional pint. We can only assume he was hoping for a weekend of cricketing success to match Arsenal's season... unfortunately, the club had other ideas.
๐Thursday Night - U11s Save The Weekend
Before we get to the grown-ups, let's focus on the people carrying this club at the moment...
Our Mixed U11 Hardball side beat Stewkley Vicarage CC at home, setting a club record with an incredible 14 wickets taken!
๐ฅ 3 wickets each for A***n, Shanaya and Joshua (including Josh's first-ever hat-trick!)
๐ฅ 2 wickets apiece for Harry and Narayan
๐ฅ 1 wicket for Buddy
๐ง๏ธSaturday - Rain 1, New Bradwell 0
The weather did what opposition bowlers couldn't and got our 2nd XI out of playing cricket altogether. Thankfully they didn't have far to travel back to the clubhouse, where they selflessly volunteered their time propping up the bar. Unfortunately, some members forgot that spouses have access to social media. Thoughts and prayers.
The 1st XI managed to squeeze some cricket in before the heavens opened. Being bowled out for 98 by 3:30pm meant we were already looking for positives before the rain officially called proceedings off at 6pm.
Top score: Alan Quelch (19). We'll leave that one there.
โ๏ธSunday 1st XI vs Biggleswade CC
Sunday brought better weather but sadly not a different result.
Biggleswade posted 187/9, with wickets shared around by Bradley, Shaggy and skipper Chris (2 each), plus one apiece for Najeeb and Srikiran.
In reply, Najeeb produced a magnificent 98 from 116 balls, including 12 fours and a six. Two runs short of a deserved century and, sadly, the team finished short of the target too.
Cricket can be a cruel game.
๐Sunday 2nd XI at Soulbury Village
After a few late changes, Andy O stepped up to captain the side.
Prakash Rai blasted 49 from 45 balls (2 fours, 5 sixes) before falling agonisingly short of his fifty, while junior Subhan chipped in with 14.
One of the highlights of the day was seeing three father-and-son combinations taking the field together. A lovely reminder of what village cricket is all about.
The juniors continued to show the seniors how it's done with wickets for Josh, Lewis and Subhan. Lewis should probably have had two, but unfortunately his dad dropped a catch. Family support comes in many forms.
Dan (3 wickets) and Ryan (2 wickets) did their best to drag the old guard back into the contest, but it wasn't quite enough.
And finally, the quote of the weekend comes from captain Andy's youngest son Oliver, who spent much of the afternoon helping the opposition warm up in the nets: "Every time my dad is captain we lose!"
No further comment required. ๐

A brilliant sight for the Sunday 2nd XI today, with three dads-and-lads pairs taking the field together. Cricket is one of the few sports where different generations can share the same team, and we loved seeing it in action this afternoon!

What a start to our Saturdayโฆ
1st XI are off to aโฆ tricky start ๐ซฃ and the 2nd XI were rained off- but being a stand up gang, theyโre instead logging some important volunteering hours at the clubhouse that they expect to take up most of the day ๐
No Frogbox today due to the risky weather, but Biggles is scoring live so you can follow the game: https://newbradwell.play-cricket.com/website/results/7348343
Good news though- the bar is open and provides the perfect shelter to watch the match! ๐ป

๐ TEAMSHEETS ARE IN! ๐
Four sides in action this weekend as New Bradwell look to build on last week's positives, including a debut century, the 2s' first win of the season, and a club-wide reminder that fielding is, in fact, quite important (who knew?!)
This week's squads feature:
โ
Players in form
โ
Players claiming they're "due some runs"
โ
At least one person selected largely on optimism
โ
Several bowlers already eyeing up the opposition stumps
A huge thank you to Ian Leask for sponsoring this week's match balls. ๐
Fresh from celebrating Arsenal's long-awaited return to the top, Ian will be hoping our bowlers can follow his skittles expertise and send a few sets of stumps flying this weekend. And if victories are secured, we're sure he'll be available to assist with the post-match refreshments. ๐บ
Good luck to all four sides this weekend. Play well, enjoy it, and try not to end up as the subject of next week's caption ๐

Fresh off the back of the 2s' first win of the season, the club heads into another busy weekend with four more chances to score runs, take wickets, and completely ignore whatever the captain's Plan A was.
Saturday sees the 1s host Wellingborough OGS while the 2s travel to Westcroft looking to make it back-to-back wins. Sunday's action then brings Biggleswade to Bradwell Road, with the Sunday 2s heading off to Soulbury Village.
A huge thank you to this week's Match Ball Sponsor, Ian Leask ๐
Ian is a proud Arsenal supporter, so he's currently enjoying that rare feeling of seeing his team win a title after waiting only (checks notes)... a couple of decades. Inspired by Arsenal and the 2s ending theirs droughts last weekend, we're hoping there are more celebrations to come this week ๐ค
Good luck to all four sides this weekend!
