New Bradwell Cricket Club NBCC is based in North Milton Keynes. We also run a midweek team which plays in the Simbah Cup. Call us on 01908 313835!

We run 2 Saturday teams that both play in the NCL & 2 Sunday teams, one of which plays in the Bedfordshire League and the other plays friendlies. We run 2 Saturday teams who both play the Four Counties Cricket League and 2 Sunday teams of which 1 plays in the Bedfordshire Sunday League and the other plays friendlies. We have fantastic changing room facilities which were built a few years ago and we also have a well stocked bar! If you are interested in joining NBCC, social membership is just £5 for the year and playing membership is only £20 per year.

Our Sunday 1st XI head to Lilley for the final game of the season, bringing our 2026 campaign to a close with a friendly against Lilley CC.

One last chance to pull on the whites, one last time to hear the stumps clatter, and one last opportunity to pretend that next season we’ll definitely stop leaving it all until the final over. 😂

It’s been a brilliant season of cricket, and we’d love to finish it with a good one!

🏏 WEEKEND ROUND-UP

This weekend we were delighted to have David ‘Biggles’ Little sponsoring the match balls for our final league weekend. ❤️💛🏏

Biggles has been a huge part of NBCC over the years, having started his cricket journey back in 1979, when he played in the U18 side that won the MK Youth League. He went on to spend the vast majority of his cricketing career with NBCC, finally hanging up the whites in 2019 after an incredible 40 years of playing.

One former NBCC captain summed him up perfectly - reliable, excellent in the outfield and exactly the sort of bowler you wanted when things were getting tight.

Thank you, Biggles, for sponsoring our final league weekend and for everything you’ve contributed to NBCC over the years. It’s hugely appreciated. 👏

Now, onto the cricket…
🏏 SATURDAY 1st XI ❌ Lost by 7 wickets
The 1s won the toss and elected to bat, but unfortunately it was one of those days…

A few early departures in single figures - including ducks for Pri and Darran -left Andy O to steady things at 4, adding 20 from 42 balls.

Then came Josh Hobson at 5… in the 5th over! 😳

The Captain put on 55 from 63 balls, including 7 fours and 3 sixes, before being caught.

Was it another full toss, Josh?! 😂

At least the Captain and VC claimed the top two scores, with extras taking third place after just breaking into double figures. Four ducks and five single-figure scores tell you pretty much everything else you need to know!

All out for 101, St Crispin & Harlestone chased it down for the loss of 3 wickets.

There were a few positives with the ball, including Dan Thompson taking the first wicket, with Brad taking the catch, before Dan returned the favour by catching St Crispin’s overseas pro off Chris Wade’s bowling.

The final wicket was a stumping by Josh, again off Chris.

The 1s finish the league season 8th in Division 4, while St Crispin finish 2nd and secure promotion. 👏

🏏 SATURDAY 2nd XI ✅ WON BY 90 RUNS! 🎉
What a way to finish the league season!

JayaKrishnan top-scored with 62, supported by Abhi (23) and Hamdi (17) as the 2s posted a defendable 173.

Then came the bowling…
🔥 JayaKrishnan 3/10 from 6 overs
🔥 Kranthi 2/25

The opposition were quickly reduced to 29/5, with two run-outs and a wicket apiece for the other bowlers completing an excellent team performance.

A brilliant way to finish the season, with the 2s ending 6th in Division 7. ❤️💛

🏏 SUNDAY 1st XI ❌ Lost by 6 wickets
Now for a sentence we genuinely didn't expect to write this season… Josh and Tim opened the batting. 😂

Josh got things moving with 10 from 10, including two fours, before being caught. Tim followed with 13 from 14, including three fours, also before being caught.

Alex added 18, before Andy O came in at 9 to lead the last effort and put together 22* from 29, with four fours.

Chris Wade top-scored among the leadership group with 24 from 17, including three fours and a six! 👏 So, despite being scattered all over the batting order, our leadership team still managed to contribute a decent chunk of the runs. 😂

But the highest score of the innings went to Brad, batting at 10, with an excellent 28 from 22, including three fours and a six! 👏🏏

NBCC finished on 152 from 30 overs.

With the ball, Brad was brilliant again, opening the bowling and finishing with 3 maidens, 10 runs and 1 wicket from his 5 overs. 🔥

And there was more great stuff from our youngsters - Evie bowled a maiden over, while Harry picked up his first 1st XI wicket at just 12 years old! 🎉👏

Muneeb took the second wicket before Alex took the catch off Chris’ bowling for the fourth and final wicket.

A defeat to finish the weekend, but plenty of positives to take away - especially another great performance from our youngsters.

Captain Alex takes the 2s to Marston St. Lawrence, with Kranthi stepping in as temporary VC after Josh has apparently stolen Pri! 😂

Old Northamptonians currently sit in the middle of the league, and after last week’s defeat, the 2s will be looking to finish their league campaign on a high. 💪

Time for another friendly against one of our favourite opponents - although being a friendly definitely doesn't mean we're going to take it easy on them! 😂

Captain Chris Wade and VC Andy O take a varied squad of 1st and 2nd XI players over Northampton way, including juniors Evie and Harry.

Both have shown some excellent bowling this season and will be looking to make their mark on the honours board! 👏🏏

And for the first time this year, we’ve somehow managed to get several of our captains and VCs onto the same teamsheet - Chris, Andy O, Josh, Alex and Tim are all in the squad.

That’s either a very experienced leadership group… or far too many people who think they’re in charge. 😂

🤦‍♀️ SO, ABOUT EARLIER… ADMIN MESSED UP.

The excitement of the last league weekend got slightly confused with the last weekend of cricket… and consequently, the wrong match ball sponsor was thanked.

This weekend’s real Match Ball Sponsor is Mr David ‘Biggles’ Little! 🏏

It’s probably a good job I’m not left in charge of anything important, right? Like the scoring…

Luckily, that’s safely handled by Biggles. There’s hardly a cricket rule our resident scorer doesn’t know, and if we could clone him, we’d also have the perfect umpire — mainly because he’s frequently left confounded by some of the decisions made out on the pitch! 😂

Biggles had an exciting first this season when he witnessed an opposition batter hit the ball away with their hand, resulting in a non-fielding dismissal. Such a rare occurrence that even Biggles had to get the rule book out! 📖

He’s also still on the hunt for an elusive ‘smudge’ over - where every ball is somehow different. We’ve come close, but four games remain, so there’s still hope…

Although, if we don’t manage it this season, it looks like Biggles will have to dust off the scorebook and we’ll try again in 2027. 😉🏏

A slightly soggy end to the weekend, but plenty to talk about!

First up, a huge thank you to Brian Goodger for sponsoring our match balls this weekend and supporting local cricket! 🏏👏

🏏 SATURDAY 1st XI - Carrib United CC won by 7 wickets

A few unfortunate early departures left NBCC needing someone to settle things down, and Prakash duly stepped up with 64 off 69 balls, including 6 fours. He played it a little safer this week after his recent attempts at sixes have ended rather too frequently in the fielders hands! 😂

Josh Hobson added a speedy 30 off 21, with 4 fours and a six, before being caught – was it another full toss?👀

On Friday, we asked three very important questions:
👀 Would Perkins score more than 3 not out?
💥 Would Brad hit another couple of sixes?
🏏 Would Shaggy bat at 4 again?

Well… Perkins certainly delivered, finishing 19 not out! He faced 40 balls though, so we're not quite getting the same strike-rate excitement as last week. 😂
Brad produced one beautiful six, finishing on 7 - we'll generously call that a success. 😉

And Shaggy? Well, he didn't bat at 4. He came in at 9, scored 6, and was bowled. What would have happened if he had come in at 4? We’ll never know.

With the ball, Brad was outstanding, finishing with 2-32 from 10 overs and taking the first two wickets of the innings. Andy O picked up the only other wicket, removing the opener towards the end.

All three wickets were catches - two for Darran Gillions and one for Andy.

A great team to play against and a thoroughly enjoyable day, just a shame we couldn't bring home the result!

🏏 SATURDAY 2nd XI - Kislingbury Temperance CC won by 9 wickets

The top order struggled again, with Captain Alex D’Souza the only batter to reach double figures before Ajay Mittapelly came in at 6 and steadied the innings.

Ajay top scored with 48 off 50 balls, including 7 fours and 2 sixes, seeing four different batting partners come and go along the way!

Will Rayner-Thompson added a rapid 35 off 28, with 6 fours and a six, while James Coleman contributed 23 off 24.

NBCC finished on 153, but unfortunately couldn't defend it.

In fact, Kislingbury's opening batter clearly decided there was absolutely no reason to rush home - putting on 105 off 87 balls against our bowling attack. 😬😂

We'd like to say our bowlers made him work for it, but with only one wicket falling, we'll probably leave that particular story for another day!

Will RT took the only wicket, a catch by Saikumar.

🌧️ SUNDAY 1st XI - Abandoned

The 1s left a perfectly dry and warm Milton Keynes, drove 20 minutes down the road… and arrived in the middle of a downpour. 😂🌧️

With the ground too wet to safely play and no consistent break in the rain, the match was abandoned.

Which also means our three junior players will have to wait a little longer for their 1st XI debuts. Sorry lads - blame the British summer! 🌧️🏏

Another weekend done - and we're now heading into the final league matches of the season! ❤️💛

Thank you to our concerned neighbours who messaged us this week to say the ground had been vandalised again…

Don’t worry - this time it was us! 😇

Last weekend saw our final home fixtures of the season, and Poppy’s Garden Care wasted no time getting to work on the square.

After years of simply topping the square up with loam, we’d been left with some rather sizeable saddles at either end of the square. So this year, we took the plunge and had the whole square Koro’d to reduce them.

then removed a huge amount of material before applying fresh seed, fertiliser and loam. Everything has now been dragged and matted in, and we’re hoping this work will give us a fantastic playing surface for the 2027 season. 🌱🏏

Now comes the important bit…

Cricketers and friends, it’s your job to pray for rain! 🙏🌧️

Little and often, please - enough to get the square established without turning it into a swimming pool!

And if you’re unsure how to make it happen, Will has apparently got a rain dance routine all worked out. 💃🌧️

Sure he’ll be happy to teach us all at Presentation Night… 😂

Brian is no stranger to a bit of local press… although perhaps not always for his cricket!

One evening, enjoying a quiet drink in a country pub with a lady who, shall we say, wasn't his wife, Brian was minding his own business when the Kent County Cricket Team arrived for a benefit function.

Naturally, there was a local press photographer there.

A few days later, Brian discovered that the local paper had featured a photo of the team… with Brian and his lady friend conveniently visible in the background. 😂📰
Not quite the sort of cricketing coverage you normally hope for, Brian!

A huge thank you to Brian Goodger for sponsoring this weekend’s match balls! ❤️💛

Brian scored his first fifty at an early age, although sadly nobody from his team was around to witness it… because they had all disappeared to the ice cream van that had just arrived. 🍦😂

After college in Walsall, Brian moved to Kent and continued playing for Stoke and the Old Anchorians, where his talent was clearly not going unnoticed.
His highest score? 191 not out. 💯

And why no double century? Well, Brian was captain and decided to declare the innings closed - putting the team before personal milestones. 👏
Apparently, this remarkable display of selflessness even made the local papers. 📰😂
Thanks again, Brian, for your support of NBCC - and for giving us a very respectable 191 to aim for! 🏏❤️💛
