I work with busy professionals who struggle with life limiting pain and discomfort and would like to stop the pain from defining them.

How to deal with overwhelming pressure, pain or discomfort tonight or tomorrow.
It’s a quick fix, based on the work of Jim Murphy
Remind yourself how awesome you’ll feel when you finish
Reset,
Stay in the moment
STOP! The negative voice
Enjoy yourself, you’ve got this.

Not long now!
I know I can do it, and will enjoy every moment, but I just haven’t felt the love of running for a while now.
It took a simple bit of kindness to change all that.

So thank you

I hated that, which I already knew.
Sadly the marathon is a commercialised behemoth.
I would happily pay for a recorded delivery of my number, chip and t-shirt.
To me it feels obscene that have no choice but to spend a fortune travelling to London twice, and be forced to-fed junk.
It is simply not good for the planet.
Just my opinion.
There was nothing there that got me excited
The folks at were lovely, I got a munch of freebies to try, despite failing miserably to run 100m. My result: 63m 🤣

Birdsong on a GLORIOUS Spring morning.
My spirits are very high today, even before my free coffee.
2.5 weeks to go and I’ve still got the hip jiggle that turned up after the 20 miler. I’ve been working on hip mobility, but clearly not enough. Sadly it seems that too much time in the sofa is the likely culprit.
Funnily enough, despite feeling off balance and trying to reduce hip stress that was one of my fastest easy runs! 2.5km at 7am 😎

I’m often asked what happens in my circuits classes, so here is an example!
All the exercises are chosen with the intention of improving movement ability and a combination of speed, power and strength.

Last week was a funny one for training.
Monday I was lazy
Tuesday I skipped the run because of a local fire, then had my workout curtailed after 45 minutes
Wednesday was easy mobility, the managed to run Thursday

Today was the Twin Lakes 20 mile race.
After chatting to friends I decided to run with them, and see how well I can cope with a pace that was (mostly) comfortable 4 years ago. I am fortunate in that I don’t need to worry about the usual impact of going too fast in training (a mistake I see so much in folks training) as London is all about the experience, not the time. I managed almost 16 miles on very tricky terrain (uneven paths and canal towpaths) at at least 60 seconds per Km faster than I will be doing on the day.
So all is good, I’m just struggling a bit with low appetite this afternoon

Review of the week.
It's been windy when trying to record, hence an indoor review!
In the past week I have run the following best times of the past twelve months:
second fastest mile
fastest 5k
fastest 5m
second fastest 10k
fastest 10 mile in 5 years
fastest half in a race since 2012 (I don't do many!)
first marathon since 2022.
It's been a very positive week!

Day 100 of my London Marathon Journey.
Part 1 because apparently noone has an attention span of over 3 minutes any more 😐

I had no idea at all it was the hundredth day. And today I was doing what the experts say not to do - run a marathon in prep for running a marathon.
But I have my reasons.
