We’d just like to put a few points across regarding the pricing of this event and the previous events we’ve run.

Over the last three weeks, we’ve had:

• A 13-tonne digger and 9-tonne dumper on hire
• A tracked skid-steer loader for one week, plus 90 litres of diesel
• Around 60 litres of white diesel per day in the digger for 15 days
• Around 15 litres of diesel per day in the dumper
• Approximately 60 litres of diesel used by the tractor
• Five days’ wages for a digger driver

Clive and I have also taken a combined 30 days away from our normal paid jobs. Every trip to the track involves around 45 minutes of travelling each way.

Then there are the costs of actually running the event:

• Track hire
• Medics
• 11 marshals, plus other staff
• A further £300 in costs paid to the landowner

On top of all that, we’ve had several breakdowns and setbacks:

• Digger breakdown number one — fuel pump failure, which we paid to repair ourselves to avoid further downtime. We will be reimbursed for this.
• The power harrow broke last week.
• The skid-steer track came off, causing more downtime.
• Digger breakdown number two — fan belt failure, which we again repaired ourselves rather than waiting for the repair company.
• The quad trailer wheel came off during the enduro, meaning a new bearing had to be ordered and more time was lost.
• Digger breakdown number three — a track came off, creating even more downtime and expense.

This post is mainly aimed at comments such as, “£60 to ride two tracks all day?” or “You need to bring your prices down.”

When I started riding in 1998, it was around £40–£50 to ride or race. We’re now in 2026, and as everyone knows, everything has become incredibly expensive.

The figures above give only a small idea of what it costs, both financially and in terms of time, to prepare the tracks and run these events properly.

It will be a year in October since we started, and we’re still as passionate and motivated as ever. This time around, we have more equipment, flushing toilets, improved motocross tracks, plenty of happy riders and many new friends.

We genuinely appreciate everyone who supports the events, understands the work involved and helps us keep improving.

A decision will be made at 3pm. We will be open again in September.

All being well the MX track will be watered Saturday evening.

Enduro track is looking good and have about 7km. Additional harder routes added also.
