JULY AT MAYHEM

What a month.

July has been absolutely packed with Mayhem events, challenges, training and plenty of time together away from our normal sessions.

We started the month with 18 Mayhem members taking on the Superhuman Games, representing Mayhem across two brilliant days of competition. We had first timers, experienced competitors, some fantastic performances and podium finishes along the way.

The following weekend was another huge one. A massive Mayhem turnout at the Furzton Relay, battling some seriously hot conditions, before heading straight into our Mayhem Sports Day and BBQ. Probably one of my favourite Mayhem days of the year so far.

We’ve also taken on the Gladiators Experience, had members completing events and challenges of their own, and continued to see some fantastic numbers across our weekly classes.

Dumbbells has been particularly busy, we’ve had evenings with three classes running back to back and, as always, there has been plenty of friendly competition thrown in.

Looking through these photos, though, the thing that stands out most isn’t the races, results or workouts.

It’s the people.

Training together, competing together, bringing families along, supporting each other and having a lot of fun along the way.

That’s what Mayhem is all about.

July, you were a good one.

Bring on August.

Is there a more fun session on the Mayhem timetable than dumbbell conditioning?

At Mayhem, dumbbell conditioning is not about standing around doing just bicep curls. The sessions are designed to keep you moving, challenge your whole body and improve multiple aspects of fitness at the same time.

Some of the reasons members enjoy it are:

• Full body workouts that train upper body, lower body and core together.

• Strength and fitness combined, helping you build muscle while improving cardiovascular fitness.

• Scalable for all abilities. The same workout can challenge a complete beginner or an experienced member simply by adjusting weights, reps or pace.

• Functional movements that carry over into everyday life, obstacle races, HYROX, running and other sports.

• High calorie burn without feeling like traditional cardio.

• Variety every week, keeping training fresh and preventing boredom.

• Outdoor training adds an extra challenge and makes the sessions more enjoyable than being stuck inside a gym.

• The group atmosphere means people often work harder than they would on their own while still having plenty of laughs along the way.

Three classes in one night and a fun relay to finish off a great evening of training.

Everyone putting in a fantastic effort and encouraging each other throughout the evening. The relay was a great way to finish. I was told it was much more fun than our usual finishers, bringing plenty of friendly competition, teamwork and laughs.

Another great evening with an amazing community.

Another fantastic turnout at Dumbbells last night.

It’s been brilliant to see so many of you getting involved across all of our sessions this week. Whether it’s been Circuits, Run Club, Superhuman, Tempo, Bootcamp, Boxing or Dumbbells, the effort, energy and atmosphere have been outstanding.

Seeing classes consistently full of people encouraging each other, working hard and having a laugh is exactly what Mayhem is all about.

The week isn’t over yet though.

Saturday morning we kick things off with our Circuits class, one of the best ways to start the weekend. Then on Sunday we’re off to take on the Gladiator Experience together. It should be a fantastic day and we’re looking forward to seeing what everyone can do.

If you’ve been thinking about joining us, now is the perfect time. Come along, get involved and see what the Mayhem community is all about.

Member Appreciation Day

One of the best things about Mayhem is the variety of people in our community. Everyone has different goals, different reasons for training and different ways of measuring success.

Some people love to shout about their achievements. Others quietly go about doing incredible things without wanting any recognition.

Wendy is definitely one of the latter.

At the start of the year, Wendy set herself six seriously tough challenges for 2026 (I may have helped her with some suggestions), all to be completed wearing a weighted vest. From 2,026 sit ups, a marathon distance march, 100 laps of a local hill, and more. She doesn’t do these challenges for medals, social media or praise. She does them because they challenge her, help keep her in a good place mentally and prove to herself what she’s capable of.

A couple of weeks ago, Wendy completed the Midnight Moo (not part of the 6 challenges), raising money for the fantastic Willen Hospice. It’s a brilliant local event supporting an incredible charity.

What Wendy didn’t mention to anyone was that she finished 13th overall out of 731 participants… while wearing a weighted vest.

In fact, I only found out because another Mayhem member who took part mentioned it to me. That’s Wendy all over. No fuss, no boasting, just quietly getting on with something extraordinary.

Wendy, thank you for being such a positive part of our community. Your determination, humility and attitude are an inspiration, and we’re incredibly proud to have you as part of the Mayhem family.

Keep doing what you do. We think you’re pretty awesome.
