Gates, ranges, shifting...

Tonight's class explored how to defend attacks coming from inside & outside of your guard, while ensuring you are in the best range to strike effectively in return πŸ‘ŠπŸ»πŸ’₯

Understanding the purpose behind Wing Chun's principles, movements, and footwork is essential for every student. It allows techniques to be applied fluently rather than simply memorised.

πŸ“œThe Concept of One-Handed Defence in Wing Chun πŸ“œ

Wing Chun teaches efficiency through economy of motion, even defending multiple attacks.
Inside Pak Sau can be used to create an opening, Tan Sau disperses the secondary attack and leaves the opponent’s centreline open, allowing the practitioner to launch a chop to the neck as an immediate counterstrike… All with one hand! πŸ‘ŠπŸ’₯

Much cooler this week at WCA Milton Keynes, so that means the pads come out for an extended beating to get things fired up! πŸ‘ŠπŸ’₯

Students worked hard on their punches, before following up with applications from Siu Nim Tau, including armlock escapes using Gum Sau & the shoulder barge.

Disclaimer: No pads were harmed in the making of this image πŸ˜‰

Send the soldiers forward.🀜 Protect the castle.🏯
Late reactions cost youβ€”if a punch is in your face, you missed your moment.

Students continued learning to use pressure drills, shifting and the shapes Tan Sau and B**g Sau in combination, so they can intercept and deal with incoming attacks dependent on the circumstances.

High energy class covering basic street-fighting techniques this evening πŸ‘ŠπŸ’₯

The difference between drilling and fighting is very important.
Wing Chun does not want to have a stand-up blow for blow battle; It finishes the fight fast with relentless offense that leaves no room to respond.

Drilling with a training partner gives you the confidence and reflexes to apply your learning in more realistic scenarios. We train in a controlled environment so that students can appreciate the effectiveness of the techniques, while practicing vital skills.

Lots of drilling tonight; with students learning how to defend and move freely around an incoming force, while creating new angles of attack along the centreline πŸ‘ŠπŸ’₯
