This year we hosted an Aikido seminar and had a wonderful turnout. It was lovely to see both new and familiar faces, and welcome members from other clubs.

It was a great opportunity to spend the day on the mat with people we wouldn't normally get the chance to train with. Everyone had something a little different to bring, and the friendly, relaxed atmosphere gave us all the chance to try new things, share ideas and learn from each other. It was a long day of training, and although most of us were pretty knackered by the end, it was a really enjoyable session!

A big thank you to everyone who came along and shared their knowledge. Seminars like this are a great chance to meet new people and a reminder that there’s always something new to learn!

Hopefully we’ll be doing it again soon! 🥋👏

One of our instructors, Dave Hall, is swapping mats for mountains next weekend as he takes on the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge in aid of Yorkshire Brain Tumour Charity (YBTC). 🥋⛰️

YBTC helps to fund vital research and provides support to those impacted by a brain tumour diagnosis. With 15 new people being told they have a brain tumour each week, it is the single biggest killer of children and people under 40 in the UK.

Well done to everyone who took part in today's grading! A fantastic effort from all, especially in the heat. 👏

Congratulations 🎉 to all those who graded successfully, and a special well done to one of our junior students who has now ratified to a senior grade.

A big thank you as well to everyone who came along to uke. Your help and support are always appreciated.🥋

Everyone should be very proud of their achievements today, and we look forward to seeing how you all progressed at your next grading. 🏆

At the end of the day, it’s not just about what they can do on the mats. It’s about who they become while they’re doing it.

Incredibly proud of a couple of our younger students in class recently 👏

One thing we encourage at our dojo is for students to help and support each other, and some of our younger students have really started to grow into that role.

During one of our courses, a couple of them really stepped up and helped teach parts of the class. They were standing up in front of everyone, explaining techniques step by step, helping keep things organised, and patiently checking in with anyone who was struggling.

Best bit was watching their reactions when the younger students demonstrated the techniques back to the class — they were genuinely so excited when the kids did well.
It’s great to see, because teaching others will help them improve their own understanding, and the confidence, communication, and leadership skills it builds will help them far outside of Martial Arts.

At this rate, I’ve got a feeling we’ll be sitting back and letting them run the whole thing before long 😄
