Moorlands Cricket Club The Club was formed in 1884 - Moorlands CC are currently playing in the Huddersfield Drakes League - was one of the founder members.

Welcome to Moorlands Cricket Club

Brief history:

The Club was formed in 1884 as Moorlands Methodist Church Cricket Club. It played in the Sunday School League, on a field owned by local Mill owner Sam Fenton. When The Dewsbury and District Cricket League was formed in 1911, Moorlands C.C. The Club played for many years on a sloping field on Church Lane, Dewsbury Moor. When this was sold for housing it moved to a Corporation field at Sands Lane Dewsbury. This was home to the Club until 1986 when the Club moved to its present ground at Memorial Park Mirfield. The Club applied to join The Huddersfield Central Cricket League in 1987 and was accepted for the 1988 season. In 1996 work was started in preparing a Lottery Application and after much hard work a Grant of £75,000 was obtained. The total cost of the project being around £120,000. Work started at the end of the 1997 season and was completed in time for the beginning of the 1998 season. The Club can now boast some of the best facilities in the League. Over the years the Club has had mixed success on the field - in 1933, 1957 and 1983, The Second XI Cup was won - in 1935 and 1936 The Jessop Cup (section A) was won.

1991 was a particularly successful year, thanks in part to a successful Junior policy. The Armitage Cup was won by the U-17 XI, The Wakefield Cup and Divisional Championship were won by the newly formed Sunday XI. Facilities:

Moorlands is the ideal choice for your parties, celebrations, christenings and much more! The interior design of the club is both modern and spacious with room that can accommodate a party of up to 100. Our room is available to hire 7 days a week. We also have space to accommodate a gazebo to join to the patio doors for larger parties *Gazebo must be hired by yourselves * We have a well stocked bar and friendly helpful staff to make your chosen occasion a great success. The ideal Venue for:

18th & 21st Birthday Parties ** Unfortunately are not accommodated for. Our aim is to make your function or party a great success, should you wish to discuss availability for our function room just give us a call, we are always happy to help. Although the weather meant our cricket festival couldn’t go ahead as planned, it certainly didn’t dampen the Moorlands community spirit! 🏏❤️

Thanks to everyone’s amazing support, we still managed to raise a fantastic £300 for Headlines through the raffle and tombolas.

A special thank you to all the businesses in Mirfield that generously donated raffle prizes. Your support made a real difference and was greatly appreciated.

Thankfully, the weather brightened up later in the day, allowing the kids to enjoy a fun game of softball, while the club was busy and thriving.

A huge thank you to everyone who came along, donated, helped out and supported the day. It was wonderful to see the community come together despite the weather! 👏

Unfortunately, due to the weather, our Charity Day against Copley won’t be going ahead as planned today.

We’re not letting the weather spoil all the fun though! A few of our players and parents are planning to meet at the club from 3pm, when hopefully the weather will have brightened up and the pitch will be dry enough for a bit of fun cricket amongst ourselves 🏏

The tombola and raffle are still going ahead, so if you’re free this afternoon, come down and join us — everyone is welcome! 😊

The cricket gets underway with U9s at 10am, followed by U13s at 12 noon, before the Parents v Kids match at 3pm — which should be great fun to watch!

Bring your family and friends, enjoy the atmosphere and help us raise as much as possible for a brilliant cause.

A huge congratulations to Fletcher, Ashton & Henry on their selection for the Yorkshire U13s County Winter Performance Programme!

A fantastic achievement and a great reward for all the hard work, commitment and performances they’ve put into their cricket.

Everyone at Moorlands Cricket Club is incredibly proud to see three of our juniors earning this opportunity. We wish the boys every success over the winter and look forward to following their continued development.

Moorlands Cricket Club is looking for enthusiastic people to join us as match scorers for our 1st, 2nd & 3rd Senior Teams! 🏏📊

💷 Earn £25–£40 per match for the right candidate
🎓 No experience required — full training can be provided
📅 Matches run from April to September
📍 Weekends + occasional Tuesday evenings
